Ok, I know this is way off base from debt. Today I have been experiencing a lot of fluttering in my chest. Feels kind of like when one gets scared and your heart beats fast, (or flutters). I am not sure how else to describe it, but this is what I am feeling. It has been coming and going and it is very frustrating. I was wondering if anyone else has ever had something like this? I am one of those that hate going to the doctors to just be told it isn't anything.

2nband -
I hate to say this, but you might want to go to the doctor. It could be a lot of things, from too much caffiene to something that warrants investigation by the doctor.
I don't think any of us here are qualified to give you a diagnosis based on the description. (No offense to anyone here.)

I agree with Subee...Best advice is to go to the hospital..I get heart flutters all the time but I have a mitral valve prolapse so its normal for me, it may be something as simple as too much caffeine for you or something more serious!

2nband, I am sorry to hear about you. Are you going through any kind of stress lately? I have seen this happening when our mind is not at peace and something keeps bothering for long, or if you are feeling lonely. You may consult a doctor just to know what's happening with you.

My life has been nothing but stress for the past year, both emotionally and financially. Last June I had surgery, complete hysterectomy, and that was rough and then out of work for quite a while and then the money problems.... I know work goes up and down, same with stuff with the kids. I do have some good days and in fact had a decent weekend, but this morning is when it started. My boss says it seems like anxiety attacks. If it keeps up, I may go to the dr. Anyone every have any of those>

I get anxiety/panic attacks, they come out of the blue causing my heart to race and shortness of breath. I did go to the doc though cause you never know. There are ways to deal with it. You need to go to the doctor and have him tell you it's nothing, your health is too important to ignore.

I will....going to wait and see if this passes today and what happens tomorrow. If I still have them tonight and the start of tomorrow, I will make an appointment with my dr...promise!

I talked to my dad and he told me to take an asprin and lay down for a while, so I guess that is what I am going to do. He said that is what he was told to do when he had a heart attack, THAT I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT!!! Anyway, he told me that if in the morning I was still having them, then I was to call the dr and get an appointment. He said it could just be stress, but ..... So I guess that is what I will do. Sure I will be in bed early tonight. Letting the kdis fix dinner and such.

I just love it, my mom told me she was having a "little procedure done" and it was surgery to place stints in her arteries, then she tried to tell me that her doctor said it was ok to continue smoking, WHAT! I don't know if she thinks I was raised by wolves and don't have a brain or what, parents just don't want to worry their kids I guess. PLEASE SEE YOUR DOCTOR, don't let them put you off until the next available appt, get in there and be seen, hopefully you just have anxiety and some nice little valiums may help when you get the symptoms.

I think that heart disease is often misdiagnosed among women, which makes me crazy. I have worked with nurses for many years; and two of the most experienced I know went to the doctor with heart problems and were each told to go home and have a glass of wine!
The first nurse went to another hospital, where she was admitted to the CCU faster than your head would spin! Our bodies are different than men's and I would also tell the doc about the heart disease in your family so they really will check you out thoroughly.

OK...I called my doctor. I have an appointment tomorrow at 2:30. I had not been doing bad today until a few minutes ago and then had a pretty good flutter, so decided to call. Was told to continue with the asprin until then and to remain calm and when I get home I am not to do anything strenuous (sp).

Heart attack symptoms in men and women are completely different....Just so you know, most women don't even have symptoms until they actually are in full attack(just a little something I learned a while back when I thought I was having them) It sounds like you are having panic attacks though, they often mimic the common signs men get when having a heart attack

That is what someone else told me too...panic or anxiety. What has concerned my husband and my folks is the fact that I get this pressure in my chest, almost like indigestion and really bad pain sometimes, so..... But like my mom said, better safe than sorry, I guess. I hate going to the drs, but I also hate loosing my breath too and stuggling to catch it, which I did before I called the drs. We will see what happens.

Thanks Suebee....I am a little nervous. Dummy me decided to look up things having to do with this on the internet and made me even more scared. Especailly when I read about feelings of sometimes "indigestion" and sharp pains associated with it and heart attacks and now knowing you are actually having one....I decided to quit reading it because it was just upsetting me and I will just wait and see what the dr says tomorrow. I am trying to not think the worse, but it is so hard! I am going to try to think positive that it isn't going to really be anything.
