Ok so I was wondering if anyone else has ever called the IRS regarding their taxes? I called them today because of the whole name change situation and SSN. I told them what the problem was, and asked how to fix it. Why did they ask me a million questions, put me on hold and come back and tell me what the problem was?? DUH! I already knew this! I asked how to correct the problem not what the problem was.....Ok sorry. It just irritated me..I been on hold for over 40 min!

Hummmm well if you have any inkling to re-elect Clinton to the presidency ( c'mon we all know Bill was to stupid to pull it off on his own).. remember that experience, and figure that is the quality of health care you can expect to receive under her Nationalized health care plan.

I think we just need a whole new regime..I haven't been impressed with a republican or democrat in years(well since I was old enough to care about that stuff) So i guess we are pretty much talking about GW and BC

Do not try to call the IRS. You will lose all your cell phone minutes while you are on hold. Go to the local IRS office if you have one nearby. I have been there several times trying to work out a payment plan and file for the year I was unemployed (Ouch! Who passed the tax your unemployment check rule?) I found them very easy to deal with. They even give you a customer satifaction report to fill out.
I tried to do it by phone but it was impossible. You will wait forever for forms to come in the mail. You may be dealing with 2 or more different offices. People will make you answer the same questions over again. It is maddening. I am going to the office tomorrow to tell them that I can't afford the payment plan they say I can. If I don't have 285.00 left over each month then how can I afford to pay it to them. I am going to try for CNC or currently not collectible. Wish me luck please.

Trust me, calling the IRS is a waste of time. Been there, done that, got carpal tunnel from pressing this number, that number, and then fell asleep on hold.

I filed amended taxes 1.5 years ago, and have yet to see my check. They claim they sent it out and it was returned due to an incorrect address....I gave them the correct address, and have yet to see it. They claim it was sent out over 6 months ago to the correct address. It hasn't been cashed, either. At this point, I'm so frustrated that I've just given up and decided if the money ever shows up, I'll just count it as a blessing. But I've given up looking for it.

OH well you two had it rough...all I needed them to do was put my taxes back in my old name because I never legally changed my name....I was on hold forever but once the lil girl figured out what I needed it took her all of 3 minutes to do and for it to go through...

Leah, I am glad that you were at least able to get it taken care of. Sue and Frogpatch...sorry to hear about your IRS problems. Fortunately I have never had to call the IRS before.

Whenever you need anything changed by the IRS - do it in writing, so you have proof. I has a ss discrepancy and it was a good thing I used paperwork, because I had to prove it later. It is worth the time to mail it in. Suebee - as frustrating as it is, keep on them for your money. By this time, they owe you interest also. I will say that I did have a good experience with the local office on some business back taxes. They worked with me on my shcedule. I can't say it would always be like that - but just as with the letters to CA's certified certified certified!

no kidding - I can remember a time when I had about 8 medical bills to pay with only an extra $120 a month....they don't seem to get it that you can only spead it so far. If only some of them could walk a mile in someone else's shoes, it would make alot of difference.

I am offened by the title.. about people being dumb and the statement about being stupid..
I raised my son never to call anyone Dumb or Stupid it is very offensive to me.. almost abusive
I think that it could have been said in a different way and I cringe when i see the subject title..
and trust me I am not a prude just Certain things just get under my skin

I, too, have raised my children not to use the word "stupid" in reference to a person...but I realize there are others who use it, and it doesn't bother me. I work in a company that is 90% men...and foul-mouthed men at that. I hear words much worse than "dumb" or "stupid" every day, several times a day. I can overlook its use here. It's a word. - nothing more, nothing less. It's not profane or vulgar, and wasn't targeting any forum members.

I agree. I hear much worse things said every day and I know Leah who is such a great person and did not mean any offense to anyone.
