Not sure what to do and hoping someone here can ease my mind. My husband and I got stopped by the cops because he was driving 45 mph in a 30mph zone.. he doesnt have a license and we both have to appear in court on apr 2nd... We are currently residing in FL.. does anyone know if I will be needing a lawyer or what the penalty fee would be? thanks.

Do you have anything else goin' on with this, or is it straight speeding, 15 over? If there are no other charges, it's not all thaty big a thing. If found guilty, he's looking at a fine and points on his license, but that's about it. Expect your insurance rates to go up. No lawyer required, just go in and be straight with the judge.

You can hit Google and likely find a schedule of fines for the particular jurisdiction. You'll also find all manner of systems to beat the ticket. Most all of them are crap.

Does Florida offer a defensive driving class to dismiss/reduce a ticket? I think they do, check into it. Texas had such an arrangement, back when I lived there.

Hi unclewulf, no nothing else going on just that.. i got a citation for letting a non license driver drive the car and he driving without a license, so we got 2 citations to appear in court and one to pay for the speeding ticket.. yeah Florida has a defensive driving class, but being that he doesn't have a license I don't think any points will be on a license he doens't have. I will google and see about any penalty fees etc. Thanks again.
