Yes, I am....r u?
Also, I was able to confirm after speaking with a rep of their's yesterday name Curt (could be Joe for all I really know) but yes he did have an accent. I asked him a lot of questions and he states they have "many" locations throughout USA and their headquarters are in London. The "storefront" address he gave me was the Albany, NY one that has been previously discussed here. I told him about OH laws concerning online pdl's which he in turn stated I agreed to the verbal contract during our tape session. I requested a copy of the session for my records and any documentation and he stated he could not do that. Therefore, I kept persisting regarding this loan and stating any type of agreement both parties are to have a copy of the contract. I basically was talking out of my a** to get my point across since I want this marked paid in full. I will be filing a complaint with the OH AG too. He said to contact their legal department 877-646-9618 but after my persistence regarding this he told me to call back today to speak with the manager Darren Webb between 8AM-5PM EST. I will be doing that today and will let all you know how it turns out.

Anyway he did provide me with their fax number 877-564-7740. Now if it works or not I do not know yet, I need to send my letter this morning and send a certified one also.

Has anyone had any luck in getting their account paid in full with them?

I took out a $200 loan with a $79 finance fee so far to date, I have paid them $869.
How can I determine the amount I have overpaid, I still get confused on that part. Can anyone help?
I would like to have this info before I call them and send the letter. If anyone can help that would be great, thanks.

Mamasita21,

I had paid them over $700 on a $200 loan and after sending them a letter, Paul J from customer service left me a message stating my account was paid in full and also sent me an email.

Inside Man & Porkchop....

I have a question why when we call we get the run around? I have called several times and get the run around let alone I have requested a copy of the sales document which Route 66 conveniently states they cannot provide that it is a legal verbal binding contract. If that is the case the consumers should have a copy of the recording and when asked for such copy the Route 66 reps state the same thing over and over again - "legal verbal binding contract". So since you work for the company can you provide some insight as to why for our requests it is such a difficult process. I spoke with one of your reps by the name of Carmen Bueno after I was advise by another rep to contact the "GM Darren Webb"...thing is you can cannot come into contact with Darren so they pass you around. I asked for a copy of the sales contract that you read and am denied a copy of it written, faxed, or emailed same thing with the tape session they say they have. What's the deal? By law for any type of contract both parties are to have the same information and it is to be documented in writing.

People do need to make sure they read the fine print. Because of my failure to do so I paid back 595 dollars for a 200 dollar loan. I had to pay it though because I agreed to receive 200 dollars from them and they gave it to me as they agreed and I continued to not pay it in full for 3 months. When I finally realized I had paid way over the loan amount, I calculated I had to pay back 600 dollars to close out my 200 dollar loan. No matter how fast you need money, these loans are NOT the answer.

Unfortunately jimbob64 that is probably the only way to handle them. You are not the first one who has told them no for a loan and they go ahead and proceed and begin the debiting nightmare. Is it possible for you and your wife to open an account with a new number or go to another bank to open an account before it is too late? It is probably the only way to gain back control. Just don't listen to their empty threats of jail, fraud, etc....you won't be arrested or charged with anything, you aren't the one who comitted a crime.

Has it occurred to anyone else on this list that a loan is usually paid with part interest, part principle? These people are scamming us out of money by not allowing us to pay the principle down automatically with each payment we make.

Inside Man's description of how the "loaning" process works is totally not kosher. Getting a loan of money is nothing like renting a lawnmower. You get the loan, and you agree to pay it back according to some set finance fee, not finance fee after finance fee after finance fee and then the loan itself.

Can anyone help me on the possible illegality of this? I know we agreed verbally to pay this "finance fee" every two weeks (and by the way, mine was every two weeks, and I'm being debited every week) until the loan was paid in full. No mention was EVER made in the phone call of no money being applied to that $200.

The problem is we need stricter laws regultaing these companies. And the illegalities come in when the majority of these companies are not licensed to loan in any state and they attempt to use illegal collection tactics by threatening the consumer with jail/calling c0-workerkers, etc...

They tried their scare tactics with me. However, I work for a lawfirm and I retained one of the attorneys there. When a Greg Gomes from the Investigation section called harrassing and threatening me on my job, I put my lawyer on the phone who was able to obtain a settlement on my debt in the amount of $400.00 which was broken into 2 payments of $200.00. I sent them the money orders via Federal Express to their address in Albany. They cannot charge you with bank fraud and they cannot have you arrested. So don't be afraid. If you cannot work out reasonable settlement arrangements with them, hire an attorney and have the attorney do it. As long as you pay the agreed settlement, you will be all right.

Last week you made to electronic withdrawals from my account. One of your people called me and I told them NOT to take any money out of my account until October 5th. By you taking that money you cut me short and I would like you to replace one installment of $80 and not touch my account again until Oct. 12th. Thank you.

Kathryn

Do you have an account with RT 66 Funding? I am assuming you are complaining against them because you have done your post in one of the pages discussing about RT66Funding, when searching for them.
