I've been enrolled into creditsolutions.com debt settlement program for over the past 2 months. I have recently uncovered some negative feedback regarding the illegitimacy of their service. I am unsure if my choice of debt settlement agency was wrong or if I am on the right track to financial settelement. Can you help?

hard to say

i'm enrolled too, three months in.

great thing for me though is that i have a real lawyer, too, because they were unable to settle my discover account. Even though they told me that if a program doesn't settle with them, they drop them.... i found out when discover's collectors started throwing out litigation threats that discover hadn't done ANY settlements with credit solutions for a good month or two before i even signed up. and now it has become this huge ordeal to get them to remove my discover account from what I pay every month (they do offer a settlement guarantee in the contract you signed). It takes them about five minutes to draw up the contract and about five weeks to change it.

to do all over again... i'd do one of the debt settlement places where they have legal professionals that work in there.. i actually got a call from credit solutions after i was in the program for about four weeks telling me if i didn't pay discover in full they (discover's collectors) would sue me.

so, take that for what it is worth. i'd be happy to chat privately about my dealings with them as well.

Sam, do you want to discuss the matter with another settlement company and know the problem areas. I guess you can take care of the matter if you put a new proposal to a different company. If things sound well, you can cancel the contract with the previous company and work with the new one. Remember, you must have your contract in writing so that it helps during times of disputes.

PostPosted: Sat Mar 31, 2007 9:09 pm Subject: FYI settlement w/ discover

if you sign up with a settlement company and discover finds out they will sue you ASAP !!! they know they will never get any money from you so they take early action .They dont work with consoldators and if they do they settlement amount will be very high .Here is how it works lets say you decide to sign up with a settlement company .You are only 30 days behind settlement companies dont make payments they store your money until it is time to setttle on the debt .Meantime your account will go 60,90,120,150,180,210 days behind and reflect this way on your credit at 210 days + you will charge off this is an r9 for 7-10 years .It is mandatory for the company .So if you tell them you are with a settlement company they will most likely take you to court .Here is the thing settlement companies change your address to theirs and request a cease and desist letter and change your phone # to their office # you will never know if you are being sued until it is to late. You signed over a POA so good luck with that

Anyone in credit solutions needs to place a STOP PAYMENT on them. I did, and it was the best thing I could have done.

I think they are legit. I have NOT had one harassing phone call from a creditor NOR have I received any bills from the cards I handed over to CreditSolutions, so they must have done SOMETHING!

But three months in I am still very nervous about their customer service. They were all over me to get me to sign up but as soon as I did, I lost any contact with a personal rep and have to speak with people who are essentially operators, now. I have not seen one letter or notice they say they've sent, I can't get them to cc me on anything. Also, they say they check my savings acct. to make sure I'm saving settlement money but they never asked me for my account number... eek.

I am sticking with it b/c otherwise I'll lose the fee I've already paid them but I also have an attorney so if this goes bad, I'm protected.

PostPosted: Mon Dec 03, 2007 11:26 pm Subject: CSA was the biggest mistake ever!

I enrolled in CSA earlier this year. Nine months later I am being sued by Chase. Initially, I had no problem getting a hold of someone, now it's difficult at times and they would put me on hold for a long time. Told me to pay up the large lump sum asap cause they can't do anything for me. I am going to cancel and stop payment, then file bankruptcy, which I should've done sooner.

The above is a tell tale sign that you will be sued.

PostPosted: Sun Dec 09, 2007 2:54 am Subject: Just cut your loses and get out of your contract

I made the horrid mistake of choosing this company. My last 18 months of trying to deal with them was worse than dealing with any creditor. They gave me the run around when I called, put me on hold and then after 30 minutes the call was mysteriously dropped. I had to call all over again and waste another 30 minutes, and another, and another. This happened to me so many times that I know it was deliberate. When they did promise me someone would call back, NOBODY ever did. I even suspected at one point that they had merged my file with somebody else's, as they had no idea where I lived or what my telephone number was. They kept repeating the wrong address and telephone number with my account. Of course, I attempted to straighten that out so many times I it would have been easier for me to drive to Dallas and put the data into the system myself. They never did straighten that out. I could go on and on with one complaint after another, but I think you get my drift. I just go so frustrated with them that I canceled my contract. They lied about the refund you will get. I settled for somewhere in the area of a 60% refund of the many thousands I had paid them to basically do nothing. I just the partial refund because the way they did business, I thought they could actually go out of business and I might have ended up with nothing. They have had several hundreds of complaints with the Better Business Bureau of Dallas (check it for yourself).
Oh, by the way, when a law suit was filed against me and I ended up in court, they were NO help whatsoever. If you hear their name, run, don't walk, in the opposite direction. If you have a contract with them and you experience some of the things I have mentioned here, you might want to at least rethink your options. Good luck to you all. I know the horror of being in debt.

Credit Solutions is not legit because not only are they not a member of the Better Business Bureau, but they are not accredited through TASC (The Association of Settlement Companies).

I had went with them for a couple months and was contacted by another settlement company. He explained that TASC is a trade organization that oversees the debt settlement industry in the country and makes sure those companies are following all the bylaws and regulations of settlement. It also lets consumers know which companies are reputable to go with.

When I made the swtich, they actually gave me a credit for the fees I paid to Credit Solutions. I paid Credit Solutions for 2 months at $300/mo. My new company credited me $450 of the money so it wasn't a total loss. I asked them why they do that and they explained to me that try to help people as best they can. Apparently, they do.

Credit Consultants was the name of the company. I believe that are located in Nevada. Try them, they know what they are doing!

TASC is an organization made up of debt settlement companies. Of course they will recommend themselves and say that they are the legit ones to go with. From what I gather, Debtxs is a major contributor to TASC. Debtxs is a scam and was recently sued by the attorney general of Texas and forced to return all monies ever paid to them by texas residents for false and deceptive business practices. TASC is nothing short of a way to create a false image like credit counseling has their "non-profit" status to hide behind. Fortunately, there will be no more 501-3c's given to credit counseling companies as the IRS is not only revoking them but no longer making them available for credit counseling companies. Which means the end of credit counseling in due time.
