Anyone have any recommendations on a good tax attourney or accountant to help settle an IRS debt?
I currently have a payment arrangement with the IRS for back taxes from 1099's that did not get paid.
I receive quite a bit of junk mail from various attouneys/accountants telling me how much I can save. It kind of bothers me how they could have found out that I owe money and are soliciting so I do not trust any advertisements that I get.
Has anyone had success in reducing their IRS debt and can recommend a good lawyer/accountant to do the same for me?

Glynnie,I personally haven't dealt with an attorney on IRS. We paid for several years on back taxes. But a friend of mone owed thousands and tholusands on a business he lost. He talked with the Irs,it took a while, but got them to drop the amount and settled for a lower amount. I have known several that did this on their own. Maybe try to set up a meeting and see what happens?Hope this helps...Karen
