I've enlisted the help of Credit Solutions America to handle a bulk of my unsecured debt. However, I've begun to read negative commentary about their company and am starting to get a little worried. I spoke with a Chase Credit representative and advised me that it was useless for me to enlist their help b/c by the time I accrued the necessary funds to settle my cc debt that they would have either sent it to collections or litigation. Now, I'm not sure who to believe. Should I just continue with my original debt settlement through Credit Solutions or settle w/ Chase Bank on my own. Even if Chase did charge off the debt to a 3rd party collector, would that be a better opportunity for Credit Solutions to reach a settlement with them rather than the original creditor since they paid so little for the debt? I'm so confused.

You need to know from Chase bank if they are selling off the account to the collection agency or just hiring them. If the account is sold off, you can offer a settlement deal since they will now be the current creditor. If the account is hired by them, you can still make payments to Chase. Now, it depends whether you want to do it on your own or want to take the services of the settlement company. Remember, if anyone of you making the proposal is rejected by Chase, it will be hard for the one making the proposal later for the same account. You need to have a talk with Chase and know if they are willing to work on an arrangement. If so, how much amount can be negotiated. Don't put anything from your side at the first place. Know their reaction. Once they have offered the amount, think if you will be able to make the payment or a settlement company's help will be needed. It is important to know the latest status of the account and the amount negotiated.
Some discussions about Chase credit Card are in the links below. Read them if it helps you better

not defending credit solutions, but...
of COURSE chase will tell you they won't deal with them!!
and when chase first contacted me about my account, they told me that credit solutions had not yet sent them an offer, which tells me they WILL deal, just the fact that CS will not deal until you've got some dough to spare.

I am hearing more and more scary things about Credit Solutions. Very good to know. We had talked to them but I think we will shy away. They wanted more information than I wanted to provide in a consult too.
