My husband and I recently contacted the attorney general in our state. They are doing a class action suit against Mezey. We just found this out today and want to go to the bank and make sure they can not withdraw any more money before we fire them.

I'd like to know what state you are in. If possible, I would like to join in on the lawsuit. I cancelled them a few months ago and would love to see some of my money back.

please let me know more details on the class action suit against Mezey. I am cancelling them and moving to a credit counseling program before I get taken to court... and would love to put them in their place as well as get some of my money back and put the stress they have caused me back to them!

Recently Mezey has been terminated from my account. I am interested in a class action law suit in Texas. Also, this is a recent email sent to CNN to let them know what is occuring:
I believe you should be aware of a company who advertised on CNN money by the name of Mezey & Associates, (yourdebtlawyer.com). They presently have a class action suit gathering toward them for not being legitimate in the practicing of their retainer agreement. They give false and misleading information. It's understandable the original debt was incurred by the responsible party - but the exorbitant interest rates of banks on credit cards - make it near impossible to pay off debts which may be incurred by necessity. I am not as indebt as some are, but a company who presents themselves to have a working knowledge of law and the consumer rights should perform accordingly.
Hattan thanks for your reply. - Please keep in touch with the updates.

Hattan, How did you go about getting back the money from your reserve account with Mezey? My sister and I are in the process of closing our accounts with them. Do you have any tips or suggestions in dealing with the creditors?

Mezeysucks,

Can you post the name of your lawyer and possibly a contact number. I'd like to see if they are interested in a possible group class action to include other states if possible. If this forum will not permit the posting of such information, I would appreciate it if you would Instant Message me. This is a solution that many people would love to be a part of. Those blood suckers need to pay for what they did to all of us.

Thanks,

Tricam

Sub: #186 IMPORTANT INFO FOR CURRENT/PAST MEZEY CLIENTS
Replied on 07-02-2007, 08:23 PM

To: all past/present clients of Mezey & Associates "Law Firm" aka yourdebtlawyer.com , yourdebtlawyer.net aka NLDC (National Legal Debt Center)., aka NDS,

If you are one of the many upset and dissatisfied debt settlement clients that feel you were done wrong by this firm and it's owners Harry Reis and JW (Joseph Wade) Mezey, the FTC and the Cal. Atty Generals Office needs your help in order to investigate them, which in turn could potentially lead to sanctions and maybe refunds for some. If you have been wronged it is important that you file a complaint with all 3 regulatory bodies so that an investigation might begin and hopefully prevent others from being wronged. Filing a negative report with BBB (bbb.com) is a good first step, but far more effective is to contact the FTC by calling their toll free # to file a complaint at 1-877-382-4357, then press 2 four times to get you to the right place. Also file a complaint with the office of the atty. gen. in CA by using the simple online complaint form.

Or you can call or write the office below:
Attorney General -
Bill Lockyer
Attorney General's Office
California Department of Justice
Attn: Public Inquiry Unit
P.O. Box 944255
Sacramento, CA 94244-2550
VOICE - 1-800-952-5225 (Toll-free in CA)
TDY - 1-800-952-5548 (Toll-free in CA)
or (916) 324-5564
FAX - (916) 323-5341

In doing my research and digging I learned that Harry Reis is THE owner (and non-attorney) who "runs the show" and apparently hides behind the scenes not caring about the upset clients. He is mainly responsible and accountable, as is Mr. Mezey, for the operation/marketing/procedures of his debt settlement company. Do a search on this site for "Mezey" and then "Reis" and you will discover other upset clients that posted. Keep in mind that the only positive posts you'll see were falsely created by the owners, it's obvious.

Christopher Reis is Harry's son and partner/CFO and he runs an office in Las Vegas. I also learned that the many sales reps/debt consultants and other support employees are not responsible as they were just following the strict rules and procedures that the owners (Mr. Reis and Mr. Mezey) set up and mandated that they follow, thus leading to a very negative and warranted BBB report with many complaints that the company does not even respond to. Bottom line- it's Mezey's name on the contract.Once one became a client it was totally out of the debt consultant's hands and they were powerless to help and were instructed by Mr. Reis never to communicate with the client anymore after they signed up. Mr. Reis claims his debt settlement company is a "law firm" as advertised on their websites yourdebtlawyer.com and yourdebtlawyer.net and marketing material. The only atty. is Mr. Mezey and he really is not even an active part of the co. as he has a totally separate office in a separate town (all public on the NY Atty Search website) he is more less just on the contract. The company that handles all the signup/service/negotiation (pretty much everything) is Americorp, a totally separate back end company and again, definately not a "law firm" that they deceive you into believing when you call their customer service #. Americorp's email address is used when sending and receiving contract to the client, no "law firm" is involved what so ever!! Could this just be a very deceptive and fraudulent marketing gimmick?

If you contact the regulatory bodies above to voice your complaint here are following names and addresses of the responsible principles and officers:

Harry Reis (primary owner),NLDC, Mezey
15981 Yarnell St. Suite 209
Sylmar, CA 91342
AND
3033 N. Avon Rd.
Burbank, CA 91504

Christopher Reis (partner)
2505 Chandler Ave. Suite 1
Las Vegas, NV 89120

Joseph Wade (JW) Mezey (att. partner)
405 A Arenoso
San Clemente, CA
1-949-542-7661

AMERICORP (non-law firm)
americorp.com
Syosset, NY
1-631-940-2400

Good luck, for your info to use or not use as you wish,
Informed citizen

Mezey and Assoicates is just a cover for a company formally called National Legal Debt Centers. They merged with Mezey and Associates because they where about to be shout down because they did not do what they said. People ended up worst off than we they started. Look up Nation Legal Debt Centers with the Southern California Better Busines Bureau. If you have joined cancel today before they get any more of your money! Call or write the New York Bar Association and let the know what is doing on.

Your welcome! We have an investigation here in CA too. It appears that Michael Sandercock here in CA is not an attorney and was pretending to be one, so there's a pending law suit in the works. He evidently is the culprit behind the scenes per CA BBB. So the State Atty General and CA Bar are preparing a suit to fine and imprison him. Stay tuned

The Michael Sandercock "Lawyer" you wrote about is one and the same poser, that ripped us off too! We've contacted the CA Bar and State Atty General also. They found he's in Marina del Rey and he has been posing as an attorney for a number of years. They're going to issue a warrant and shut him down, then put him in prison where he belongs, after seizing all of his business and personal assets!

I signed with NLDC in May 2005. Since then I have settled 2 accounts of the 5. I have tried contacting them since December of 2006. They sent a letter of their change of ownership I called them for a report on the status of my account and they did not respond. If anyone is trying to locate them, here is their number 702.260.1050. Their address is 115 E. 57th Street, 11th Floor #267, New York, NY 10022. I have also been ripped off and hope to recover the money if I can. Please advise.
