howie, actually as son as the attorney general looked at our paper work from Mezey, they filed a lawsuit against them for us. Mezey will not return calls to the attorney general and when severed with papers they keep asking for a delay in court dates. They have to respond by Oct. 22.

I also want to tell the world about Mezey & Associates. I have been paying these people for about 18 Months, Have had one judgement go to the courts against me, which I had to settle, am about to have another judgement against me anyday and am going to see an Attorney next week to see if I can do anything about these people who prey on those who already are in over their heads and looking for help to pay thir debts. I have paid them around $17,000 and not one of my creditors has been paid one penny. I keep asking them to send me some sort of stAtement showing the money that I have paid to them and any action that they have taken on my accounts and they will not send me anything. I too, have stopped my payments at the bank, but by this point, late fees and interest have grown on all these accounts that have not been paid in 18 months, Which they gave me instructions TO NOT PAY ON ANY ACCOUNTS THAT WERE IN THE PROGRAM. They make it sound wonderfull for you and give you hope for a way to be debt free but I am very leary at this point. I Also, called the Better Business Bureau in New Youk and they told me that they have an "F" Rating and I guess that says it all. If there is anyway to stop these people from preying on already debt ridden clients, I would Love to be Part of this. THere sould be a law against this sort of thing. I live in Alabama.

Mezey and Associates took money, never sent out the power of attorney letters that they told me they had sent out....creditors told us they had not received these and that was why they were still calling us. I was summoned to appear in court and the court told me to bring in a letter stating that the creditor was included in the program so when I called Mezey and asked for this letter that the court requested, they replied "We don't do letters!" They also told me there was nothing they could do for me with that account since it had gone to court. I expressed my concerns about the customer service, the fact that lawyers can't afford a website that was promiced, and a few other details that I was not happy with. Today I received a letter saying I was being transfered to a different law firm and to call to opt out of the retainer agreement. I call the number and they told me the letter was wrong, I have to send them a letter telling them I want out of their program. Also that the money paid to date was all fees, I have no equity built up with them and no money will be refunded to me. I basically paid them to do absolutely NOTHING! I am not happy!!!

It's been while since I posted on this web site. I am so sorry to see so many people going through the hell that these's people (mezey) put me through. If you have just sign up then stop payment and get out. I am sure that these's liars have settled some accounts but I know the number is much greater on the one's that they don't settle. I can say this, because I went through the program.I was promise great things like most of you, but it turn out to be the biggest nightmare. Out of four credit cards that I turn over to them totaling (37.000). They told me that they could settle everthing for around 22.000 counting their fee of 5.000. That means saving of 15.000. What a joke and I believed it..... 8 months in to the program I sent extra payments to settle quickly. the first card was settle at 40% percent of the debt.in which I had to pay 60% of the debt. When ask why so high. They told me that this was the best they could do. Then I said you people told me how good of a relationship you have with the creditors. What bull...The next card was settled at about 35%. Which meant that I paid 65% of the debt. So I had enough and called the last two creditors and settle for 50% then relized I could have done this myself and saved the 5.000 fee...So the best thing to do is cut up the cards. Stop anwsering the phone. Put money back like you were going to pay someone else to settle for you and after you get a couple thousand together start negotiating with the creditors yourself. They will not do anything for sometime from 12 months to 18 months and by the time they do anything it will be turn over to collection and then you can get a better deal because that have sold the debt to some one else for 20 or 30 cents on the dollar.... but rememer to be putting the money back every month. Make like it's a car or another house payment....Good luck... o yea the 37.000 I was in debt.. Thanks to mezey it cost me 31.000 to be debt free again.....stay away and do it yourself and save in the long run.........

I just received a letter today from Mezey, stating that my account is being transfered to Campos Chartered Law Firm effective on 10/27/07. this noticed was postmarked on 10/19/07. the funny thing is that when I talk to customer service yesterday they made no mention on the transfer. I am really thinking of cutting my ties to mezey right now. Has anyone heard of the Campos firm? should I just cut my losses and start over or give these guys a chance?

I will call mezey tomorrow and and find out more details. I have to make a decision by friday as that is when my automatic debit goes through. I don't want to lose anymore money than I've lost already.

Thanks

I have filed complaints with the New York Banking Dept., which oversees debt settlement compaines, the Attorney Generals of CA, VA, and NY also the FTC.
I was one of the "lucky ones" who got out after being taken for only $3000.00
They were in breach of contract, did not send any letters to any creditor and caused me to fall so far behind, it was impossible to settle any debt myself. I have now had to file chapter 13. I did receive a "refund of less than $400" a far cry from the $3,000 I paid them. I now plan to sue for the balance in small claims court.[/b]

Is Credit Solutions affiliated with Debtxs? If so, Debtxs is a ripoff! I don't care if you work for them or not! I don't know how a person can work for a company that will rip people off like Debtxs has. You can read all of these other reports because mine is the same. They tell you not to answer the creditors calls, but don't give them Debtxs' name because they don't want to talk to them either, although I gave Debtxs my money to pay these creditors! This company should be closed!

Yeah, I'm Po'd too, I just went to Mezey's website, which is now only one page with a contact email on it, they don't have all the bogus false advertising they had on their previous website (i.e. "we typically save our clients 60 to 75%", "better than BK", etc) So I just wrote them a bitter letter about how I was told by George Fasha last October that half my payments would go to my creditors immediately so that my debt would start going down beginning last October when I signed their contract. I find out afterward that I had to pay over $5k in fees up front, then all the changes happened too, none of my creditors got a dime so my debt is over $6K more than it was last october, instead of being $6k less. Anywho, I wrote a nasty email thru the Mezey website to ask them why all the changes? and why all the scamming? I could have settled 2 of my accounts by now for the amount they've extracted from my checking account in the last 12 months. This Campos sounds very fishy, as in rotting sushi fishy! Time to get a real lawyer now to sue them for the breaches of contracts that occured cuz I never gave them a signature nor approval to change me to some other bogus "LawFirm". And I only had like 6 days to let them know if I wanted to opt out (does that mean you lose all the fees?). I called twice during my lunch break last week and was on hold for a half hour each time so I hung up without talking to anyone. Sincerely,
PO'D in PA

Here's an interesting update. I e-mailed that person back and explained I no longer want to be in the program and my experience thus far. He replied with the following:

Quote:
"THIS IS MY THE CHANGES ARE BEING MADE AND WHY I AM TRYING TO CONTACT YOU to explain what is taking place.
Our letters to the creditors are sent to the top of the corporate chain and sometimes doesn't for some unknown reason flow to the party calling you.
You always dealt with legal network services, we are a marketing firm hired by attorneys to develop their clients. Originally exclusively for Mezey. since he is no longer an issue we are showing you our actual company name.
I think before making all of your assumptions we should have a short chat.
please call me at your earliest convenience
Warmest Regards,

Larry Sorin
Sr. Debt Consultant"
I went ahead and called him thinking it might be dealt with better and was informed that I still owe them $3580 in fees for their service. I collected the information and will be adding them to my Chapter 7 Bankruptsy.

Just so you all know, Mezey and Associates is out of business. They have been shut down. What is happening is a company called Campos (that seem to be very good) are taking all the outstanding Mezey clients. This is good because Mezey was not doing anything. Current Mezey clients are now being contacted and switched over to campos at a discounted rate. Thank God Mezey & Associates has been shut down. Talk to you all soon........

This is the first email I ever got from "Mezey" in June '06. Larry Sonin, (with 2 n's) sent it to me. If I knew they were marketers and not part of Mezey's "law firm", I never would've went with them, plus, it looks like they were talking about themselves here if they really were shut down. They still have a one page website though...

The UNIFORM DEBT-MANAGEMENT SERVICES ACT is now implementing statutes regulating the entire debt management industry.

debt settlement companies are near all operating illegally now; unlicensed, unbonded, uninsured, and will be required to comply with the new regulations, similar to a mortgage company, stock brokerage etc. or be shut down, and rightfully so. We welcome these new regulations. We are a Law firm governed by the Bar Association, Attorney General's Office, Federal Laws, Fiduciary Statutes, Banking Commission Regulations, etc……Consumer Credit Couneling is under scutiny by the IRS with half already losing their non-profit status. Most of the other remaining half are closing up shop, as the new regulations are so restrictive, few can remain in business.

Bankruptcy is now no longer an option for 80-90% of those individuals who previously were able to file. And, the Banks are being mandated by the Federal Reserve to double their minimum monthly payments on unsecured debt. Until now, just paying minimums, depending on the interest, took anywhere from 18 to 90 years! How many financially distressed families are going to be able to pay double their current minimums, when they are already struggling to pay half.

We help people like you every day. If you are serious about getting out of debt and can afford this program please call me.

Warmest regards,

Larry Sonin

All the complaints here are TRUE! And if we were "losers" we wouldnt even have attempted to pay our creditors, we would have just filed chapter 7! This company EVADES, LIES, TAKES YOUR MONEY (to the tune of $8000) before I found out that "referring my debtors to "my debt lawyer" and NOT discussing my debt with the creditors as INSTRUCTED by MEZEY in VERY EXPLICIT TERMS, only led to a law suit by one of my debtors (which Mezey was well aware of and promised to appear at), they never appeared, and the debtor won by DEFAULT, and I went to the bank to find that I had not ONE penny to pay my rent or bills, they had confiscated every dime! AND ALL THE WHILE I was being told by MEZEY that they were and HAD negotiated settlements on my behalf! I am reporting them to BBB, Attorney Generals Office, as well as filing suit myself against them for breach of contract! I have spoken to an attorney who has told me they did indeed breach thier contract! I also am wring to the NYS Bar Association to have Mezey disbarred, as he is engaging in misleading, fraudulent business practices, and if you reserach here, you will see they frequently rename them selves and have a class action suit pending in California. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!
