i defaulted on a $200.00 payday loan, and have been making payments for about 6 months now. due to financial problems i was unable to make a payment this month, and am being threatened with criminal prosecution for passing a bad check. can they do that? i live in ohio, stark county.

What is the name of the lending company? Legal actions will be given slight importance as you have been making regular payments in the past. They pass these scary threats in order to make you pay the debt faster. Don't worry, talk to these companies and arrange your payments with them. Even if you can prove sending the payments to their mailing address, it works because you can show your efforts in clearing the debt. Talk to a counselor as he can assist you better in this direction.
