Consolidation works if you are unable to make the minimum payments on your debt accounts and they are past the due dates. All the bills will be combined together into one monthly payment and you will be offered lower interest rates. The counselor will also negotiate with your credit companies to wipe off any late payment fees. The monthly payments will be framed as per your present financial situation and you will find it easier to clear off the accounts in the consolidation plan.
