how to stop ACH

hello, i'm new in this forum.. i just want to know how to stop the PDL's from taking out money from my bank.. do i just call the bank?

Whatever you decide to do with your account, make sure that you inform your PDL company before making any move. Since you have a loan with them, there shouldn't be a feeling that you are avoiding your part of paying the debt. Try to work out some other arrangements with them keeping your bank information confidential.

Go to your bank, mine charged a fee for each pdl. But I've found out that the pdl co's go by different names and will debit that way. I actually closed my acct. this morning and kept my savings open, have a checking somewhere else now. I had to do it.

You can ask your bank to block all debits to your account, and this will stop any fees from being taken.
My bank blocked all debits to my account last week so none of the PDLs I owe could get their fees. But in doing this, I was also unable to use my debit card for debit or ATM transactions and any checks written would not be honored. So basically, I was blocked from using my account as well.

Your other option is to close the acct. and open a new one somewhere else. None of the PDLs will have your new acct. info., so you can take back control of your money.

My bank wouldn't block all debits, so that is why I closed it, they said to come back in about 2 months to re-open, and that's why I only have a savings with them.

All banks are different regarding the rules of blocking debits and closing accounts. Just make sure you sit and talk to a branch manager or a banker so you know all the rules and any fees that may apply. Some banks have been known to have a 30 day rule, meaning anything that tries to hit the account within 30 days of closing will automatically open the account back up and be in the negative balance. My bank also allowed me to block all debits from my account since I had two direct deposits going in and I could not get them switched to my new account in time. When I needed access to the money, I would call the manager or a banker and they would lift the hold for about 5 minutes so I could transfer the money to the new account. If you don't have any direct deposits and the bank won't block any debits, your best bet would be to close the account.

yes, weeswie is absolutely correct...make sure you communicate with all your PDL's...the worse thing you can do is not talk to them. I actually prepared letters and sent them certified mail and some by fax to all my PDL's explaining my situation and also revoking any more authorizations to debit my account from them or any of there affliates. I was setup with my debt management program prior to defaulting so I was able to give them the contact information on who I was dealing with. Some are going to be harder to deal with than others.

Are you dealing with all Online lenders or do you have some storefront?

pinklady, i have 3 storefronts and 6 online.. i haven't actually defaulted on any of them, but it's really hard making all the payments.. there's nothing left of my paycheck.. becoz of these PDL's i am now behind on my car payment and i still have to pay for my son's childcare.. any advise would be appreciated.

Have you registered with the sight to receive a call from a counselor. You defiantly want to make sure communicate with all your PDL's but especially the storefront lenders. I would talk to them ASAP and let them know your situation and see if they will accept some kind of payment arrangement. What state do you reside in? I'm pretty sure that storefront lenders are okay and legit but you may want to check the rules and regulations for your state pertaining to online payday loans. What online PDL's are you dealing with, have you tried to do search on here to see what you may be up against?
