Hi,

It seems that many of you currently have or have had the same problem as me. I am in Arkansas and I am facing 4 local storefront pdl's and 2 online pdl's. I am not behind in payments to them yet, but it's gotten to the out of control point and I am having difficulty even buying groceries/paying for gas, and buying shoes/clothes for my babies as they outgrow them so quickly...

Part of my dilemma is my husband is unaware of the pdl's. And we are in ministry, so I am facing utter shame and humilation here for the situation I have put myself in... I don't want to have to close my bank account... I can't bear the thought of them calling/harrassing if they don't agree to a payment plan for me.

I also spoke with a man from getoutofpaydayloandebt.com who advised me to close my bank, stop my direct deposit and send a letter to each of the pdl's, but in further researching, his letter is completely different from the ones I've seen here... I am so confused and don't know what to do next... HELP!

Shae-you are right, many of us here are,or have been in the same position as you. Don't feel ashamed for what you have done-sometimes we have to things just to get by in life. But you will discover ways to come out of that and not get trapped again. Why don't you sign up for the forum,it's free, and you can get free credit counseling. The counselor will discuss different options with you. You need to try to make some type of arrangement with the store front pdls, sometimes they will enforce their options.I would talk to them in person and explain that you want to get this taken care of and can they work something out with you. ALso,you need to tell your husband.I'm sure he loves you,nad it will be better coming from you, instead of a phone call. Plus, you are putting yourself under terrible stress, let him share this with you-and both of you come out on top of this. He's in ministry-he knows all about love and forgiveness. Keep us posted and feel free to ask questions ...karen

I agree with Bossy--many of us, myself included have our own struggles with PDL's--we are all in the same boat and I gladly give you an oar!
Although I am not a religious person, one saying I have heard makes sense--God gives you no more than you can handle. You need to confide in your husband and you both will be stronger after this struggle.
Take care, and be sure and let us know how you are doing! I, for one, care and hope to hear from you soon...

I understand how you feel. I mean every other Friday I feel the utter embarassment of having to go into one of those storefront shops, afraid that someone who knows me will see me and question what I am doing. Unfortunately, when you live in a small town, someone is waiting in the wings for you do something wrong so they can have something to talk about. Your case is no exception.

But you shouldn't be embarass. Some people get loans to start to pay for unexpected expense. Then it gets out of control. We don't intend to get into debt. It just happens. But I came here one day and I realized that there were others just like me who were having these same type of problems. Thank God for someone who understands.

I am currently working out arrangements with creditors through T&C. It feels like such a big burden has been lifted off of my shoulders. You should consider consolidation as soon as possible. It is confidential and you don't have to worry about what others think of you (I know that I can be a problem as well).

When I talked to a credit counselor, they told me that payday loan places can choose whether or not they will work with the credit counselor. It is very possible that they will still try to run your check through the bank (for the storefront ones).

I also wanted to add that I was in a similar situation as you; I had seven pdl's that my husband didn't know about. I finally came clean, and although he was very mad at first, he has been incredibly supportive and helped me get out of the mess I'd gotten myself into.

I encourage you to consider telling him. Dealing with a pdl mess is so much easier when you are not trying to do it secretly.

Good luck!

I too know how it feels to keep this from your husband. My husband was so angry when I finally told him. He said something that made so much sense. Whatever the amounts I have gotten, was it worth all of this? Not at all. But I can say, I am using this experience to be more responsible with my finances. I am not out of the woods yet but it feel good making strides toward it.

T and C is Town and Country, which is a debt consolidation company. I would do a search for them on the forums and read what others have had to say. I would also research other companies to make the best decision for you.

I thought I would try to locate their website...with no luck. Do they have a parent company or something? Any clue?

Art6398 please start a topic of your own and list more information so we can better help you, list the names of the pdl's, whether they are Internet or store front, how much borrowed and paid back and what state you reside in. Thank you.

I know how you all feel, I have 12 PDL`s that my husband does not know about. I called and confessed everything to my mother.
Thank God she is going to try to help me get out of this. My husband would divorce me if he knew. Hopefully things will work out.
