Does anyone know what is all involved in consolidating online pdls? I'm just wondering because I recieved a call yesterday from consumer's credit counseling(I think that's what it is called) and the lady had told me to get all me info together such as the names of the lenders, the amounts that I owe, and their phone numbers, and their attorney would handle it from there. Oh, and of course, close my bank account and get a new number at the same bank or just go to a different bank because they will most more than likely keep trying to debit my account. I'm just wondering what's all involved, as far as how long the process takes, etc Question

Which company are you working with? I decided not to consolidate, but when I spoke with one company I was told to send in my initial payment to get it started and they contact the creditors and then you send in your monthly payment and if I was getting calls that they wouldn't stop immediately and it would take a few weeks to get the payment and to contact the creditors to let them know that you are working with that company. And you do need to close that account and open a new one, because they may go in under another dba to take out the money.

I called my bank last night, sobbed and they refunded my bank account the 600 dollars in NSF fees, so in a day my balance will be at 0.00 again - then I am closing it.

I know you didn't ask what I did, but it's a start - just like Steelers1 said.

The lady's name that I spoke with was Lisa, but she didn't give me the name of the attorney or the consolidating company or however they do it. I'm just wondering is it worth it to consolidate it or should I just work out a payment plan with the pdls myself? I know they will be hounding me to death and I definitely don't want them to call my job, but if they do, they wouldn't get through unless it was an emergency. Steelers1--how long did it take you to pay your's off? Chagrin--what was so bad about Brennan?

tonyamsn, T&C does consolidation and they work with the online pdls, and then there is Langhorne Law, they just started they used to collect on defaulted pdls. I guess you have to take a look at how many pdls you have and how much you owe. I can tell you I talked with T&C in the beginning and their down payment was reasonable and the payment plan was WELL within my budget. I just decided to fight all of my internet pdls since I had paid well over what I borrowed and the law allowed in interest, and then I settled with the other 2 for what OH law states I legally owe which saved me hundreds of dollars. You should do what you think will work for you. If you don't think you can get the pdls to work with your budget on your own then maybe consolidating them is the way to go.

I think Brennan took alot of people's money and never paid the creditors and then went bankrupt. Most people are still waiting for refunds for what they paid that never went to pay their creditors.

Did everyone find this Brennan through the same place that called me and said they could set me up with an attorney? I was just reading some of the threads about him. I have Langhorne Law's web address. How do I find T & C's? I guess before I might commit to anything with this lady, I better find out who the attorney is first, but I haven't given her any of my info yet. It's a good thing!!!

Well I called Langhorne Law and they are sending me the information. I hope I can just get this taken care of. Anyone else know of anyone that has used them or signed up with them?

Langhorne Law just switched from representing pdls to helping consumers settle their pdl debt this week. So I'm sure people will be posting their experience with them.

I started with T & C because of the amount of payday loans I had. I knew nothing about the state laws then. After a few months of having good luck on my own, I withdrew from T & C and settled with my lenders on my own. Some have never responded to me so I am considering them paid in full. I have the documentation needed in case they try to contact me in the future. I have overpaid them as well.

That's why I didn't go with them Mishele, I followed the advice you guys gave me and thought I would try that before I signed a contract and sent my money. And it worked, and like you, I consider the ones who haven't responded paid in full. Tonya and arj, just keep following people's advice and you will be able to get through this.
