Does anybody have any further feedback regarding Langhorne Law? I spoak at length with Dennis Williams who is the managing attorney at Langhorne. Based on a six month plan, I will be paying about $350, attorney fees and also placing an agreed amount into a "savings plan" to cover the pdl debt settlement. In my case, I owe about $1300 principal to the pdl companies. He apparently worked for the pdl companies in the past and now has come over to our side. While he does not guarantee anything, he seems confident that he can reach a settlement with these companies. I'm deciding between using Langhorne or a debt consolidation company. I don't know what to do.

You have to do what is best for your situation. I personally would see what he can do, if you can deal/handel the harassing phone calls until a settlement is reached with the company then go with Langhorne. The calls probably shouldn't last too long once the company is involved. But it is a personal decision based on your "gut" instinct. And what will work with your monthly budget.

No he doesn't own one of them...He formerly did collections for them, but has since changed to working against them.

I am going with them too. I think it is kind of pricey but since he has done collections for them and he knows how they operate I dont think it will be a bad choice.

I did a google search under Dennis Williams, managing attorney at Langhorne, just to confirm that everything is legit before I sign on, but have not been able to find anything.

Have you gone to the website? You can also confirm legitimacy by checking with the BBB. Their site states at the bottome that they are a member.

You can also go the Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board's website (it used to be www.padisciplinaryboard.org but you may need to google it, as I think they got a new URL this year) and search for me by my attorney ID, 7***8. They'll tell you if I've ever been subject to discipline, etc.

To answer the question of the guest, No. Contrary to some of the threads that exist on this site, I do exist, I do answer my own phone and I do NOT own a PDL. But I did represent pdl's for years before severing my ties to them and refocussing my practice as a consumer debt settlement firm.
You'll find a lot of posts about me and my firm from our collection days. I'm not going to insult anyone's intelligence by pretending that I never represented a pdl at the corporate level or ran a collections practice for one on the side. And I haven't changed in this respect - I'm still an SOB when it comes to protecting my clients. But now my clients are borrowers instead of lenders.
I will admit to the following, however. My reference above to "our practice" is a bit of an overstatement. I shut down the original Langhorne Law in June, terminated everyone except my secretary (she's also my wife, so what was I supposed to to do?) and finished out my last duties to any pdl. Then, in accordance with certain contractual obligations, I held my fire about the industry until this month. Today, the only things that I still use from the old firm are myself, my bride and my d/b/a.

I have someone calling me telling me to send money to Langhorne law for a pdl. Are they just taking my money or is this a real company???

Yes, this is a real company. However, I was under the understanding that they now longer are supposed to be collecting for defaulted PDLs, which company are they collecting for?

Nationwide cash. I talked to a Mr. Mitchell who placed me on hold and supposebly a lawyer got on the phone from Langhorne Law and expect me to western union 540 on the 19th or they will notify my employer that i was commiting internet fraud on my work computer. I am curious if this is for real.

I just spoke with Michele at Langhorne Law and they are actually working with people to make payday loan settlements and will contact the agenices for you to set this up - they do not collect for the payday loan company. rhonda they just told you an outright lie from nationwide cash that was not a lawyer from Langhorne.

Rhonda this would be my suggestion. First become informed of your state laws on payday lending. Go to http://www.paydayloaninfo.org and look up your state laws. Next contact your Attorney Generals consumer division and ask to speak to someone they will talk to you and its free. Always check out companies very carefully. Get reports on them. If they are legimate they have nothing to hide. KYSIDE38
