My account was debited on 12/29/06 and again on 1/12/07 by MTE financial. I have no idea who they are. The first time they took $140 and then $125. Who are they? Someone please help me.

Welcome to the site! MTE Financial is a DBA name ("doing business as" name) for several payday loan companies:
United Cash Loans
Loans til payday
500 Fast Cash
Ameriloan
MTE Fiancial
Quickest payday loan
Your approved to 1000
1000 payday cash
Emergency cash loans
payday loans 1000
10 dollar payday loan

They are also known as "Rio Resources".

Do you have any outstanding payday loans? If so, that's probably your answer. I would definitely suggest sitting down and finding out how much your loan was, how much you have paid them, and look up the laws in your state regarding payday loans.

Here's a link to a site that will tell you your state law regarding payday loans:

http://www.paydayloaninfo.org

Click on "state info" on the left side of the page when you get to that site, then click on your state on the map. It will bring up your state's law on PDL's.

Once you have reviewed the law in your state, figure out what you owe on the loan, based on the interest rates shown in your state law. If you have overpaid this company already, you will need to write them a letter asking to be marked "paid in full", and cite your state law, and the fact that you have overpaid. Pollyandsay's blog on this site has a great template letter you can use for this. (Thanks, Polly!)

Before you mail the letter, take a copy of your bank statement with your account numbers blacked out, any correspondence you have had with MTE Financial (e-mails), and a copy of the letter you are sending to MTE Financial, and file a complaint with your state's Attorney General or Department of Finance - whoever regulates payday lenders in your state. (That will be listed in your state's payday law under "where to file a complaint".)

Do you know what company you took a loan out with? We can provide you with some contact info to send your letter to if you know which company you are dealing with.

If you have never taken out a payday loan at all, I would recommend going to your bank manager and advising them of this, and requesting that they reverse the debits because they were unauthorized.

Hope this helps a little. Please post again if we can be of more help.

Sherri, you must be trying to reach Rio Resources. Their number is 866-859-6129. Call them and inquire about your next payment date.

I have sent the letters and filed complaint with Florida's AG office and I received an email from United Cash Loan telling me "the communication they received was recognize as a form letter (a cut and paste) with misleading and incorrect information being widely circulated via the Internet. The use of this form letter leads to believe that there is not a specific complaint connected with the handling of your account", and that when I signed electronically the document I had 48 hrs to cancelled. I have paid them $535.00 for a $250 pdl. They owe me a refund of $210.00 which I am sure they will not refund. By the same token I just received 2 PAID IN FULL LETTERS. Only 3 more to go. I could not have done it without all you guys. Thanks

I have a loan through MTE Financial as well. I can't really help you as far as where they are located, I have no idea. I just closed my bank account today so they are in for a treat next friday. I'm sure though T&C will get in contact with them right away. There phone number that I have for MTE Financial is 1-866-539-7504. I also got one from someone off this site a few days ago but I have yet to use it, that one is 866-465-5054. Hope that helps!

A lady from Norman G Kalina keeps calling me at work. She says I owe her law office $545.00 on a $250.00 loan I borrowed from 10 dollarpayday. Do I have to pay them the $545.00 or can I nto just send them the $250.00 and be done with it. She talked to my boss and threatened my boss. She told my boss that she was breaking the law by not giving her my personal information. Can they do that?

No Guest, they can not do that. If you tell them that you are not allowed personal calls at work they MUST stop, and that goes for the original creditor as well. But a cease and desist letter won't work on an original creditor. File a complaint with your Attorney General's office and the AG's office in the state they are located.
