I recieved a collection notice from Universal Fidelity LP, who is collecting on a debt owed to Sonic(Cash Transfer Center). On the notice it has the license #, which allows them to collect in my state. So I decide to do a little research. According to the state website the company was under Regulatory Adminstrative Action. After seeing that, I called the state regulators and according to them Univeral Fidelity's registration is inactive. Why, they did not paid the licensing fees for my state. I am wondering what I should do. Did I mention payday lending is illegal in my state. This should be fun..
I am wondering what my response to Universal Fidelity should be... Any suggestions

bdouble, I would inform them that payday lending is illegal in my state. Also tell them you have filed complaints with AG in your state. I would file a complaint against them also. Keep us posted. KYSIDE38

I too just received a letter from Universal Fidelityclaiming I owe on a credit card I have no record for. Also when I call the 800 # there was no mailbox for a John Lee Jackson from whom the letter came from. I too will call my State regulators on this company.

FYI. This company is headquarter in Houston (at least it claims to be).
I have also received a similar letter of collection from Universal Fidelity LP.
