Does anyone know who Buckeye Check Cashing Inc. is?
I do not recall ever taking out a cash advance with them and I received a letter from them stating that I owed them 308.85 and they would settle for 154.425.
Have no idea who they are. west asset management, Inc. out of Atlanta GA sent the letter stating that Buckeye was the original lender.

It seems they might be part of a holdings company named Diamond Castle. I would post the link but I know it will get removed here is some more info..

Quote:
BUCKEYE CHECK CASHING, INC.
Buckeye Check Cashing, Inc., based in Dublin, Ohio, and founded in 1987, is one of the leading subprime consumer finance companies in the United States. Buckeye provides payday loans, check cashing and other services in approximately 200 locations throughout seven states. Buckeye’s founder, Jim Frauenberg, has been integrally involved in the growth and development of the check cashing and payday lending industries, serving as a Board member of both the Community Financial Services Association (CFSA) and the Financial Service Centers of America (FiSCA). Subsequent to the acquisition of Buckeye by Diamond Castle, Jim and other members of management continue to run the day-to-day operations of Buckeye and have retained a significant equity stake. The investment in Buckeye reflects Diamond Castle’s interest in companies which serve the very large “unbanked” or “underbanked” population of the United States, estimated at approximately 70 million people.

I would send the collection company a debt verification letter (you can find the template on my blog site) and wait for a response from them. This would be the only contact I would have with them however if for some reason they try, do NOT give them any banking information and do NOT promise any payments until you get this debt verified
