I recently talked to a counselor for this site and he recommended a debt settlement plan. My accounts are all payday loans and I have paid the prinicpal amount on two of them and one of them I didn't even know that they deposited money until they started taking it out. I have no knowlege and no records in my email of ever applying with this company but they have my social security number. So I guess my question is......should I go with the debt settlement or consolidation or should I try to first work these issues on my own by sending out letters and awaiting responses...........any advice on this matter would be appreciated. So far I have only defaulted on a couple of them but pretty soon the other will also since I have closed my account and changed my direct deposit.

Welcome to the forums? Do a search of your state laws at www.paydayloaninfo.org. See if you have overpaid? File complaints with your Attorney Generals office. Keep us posted. KYSIDE38

Follow what Kyside said. She is good with the laws of some states and has done extensive research on many pdl places. When you have a question, post here, members will be glad to help you.
How much is your total debt? After you are aware about the laws and the charges legal in your state, go through your bank statement and find the latest position. If you find the balance can be arranged on your own, call the pdl and propose your payments. They may work with you as you show your willingness.
If they don't adjust, find out if you are able to afford the consolidation payments. Give preference to consolidation first. Lowest plans are done in debt settlement. The plan is most affordable to people in huge financial mess and can't afford any other debt management programs. Know your situation and the pdl status before deciding any of the programs.
