I found this firm online that promises to help resolve payday loan debt, often for 50% of the original principal.
Has anyone here ever dealt with them? Should I, or should I try to resolve all this on my own?
I have the same sob story as most here, so I know I'm in good company.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Hi guys, thanks for the kind words.
As far as what company I'm dealing with, well, there's a few of them. More than four, I'm sorry to say. (Langhorne won't take you if you have less than that.)
I just wondered if this was something I should do myself, or do I need Langhorne's help. It seems as though the majority of you guys took care of this on your own (I've been lurking), so why shouldn't I? Is there a recommended amount, or number of companies where you all would say, "Whoa, best call Langhorne, you're in over your head."? (I'm in PA, and all my PDL's are with internet lenders.)
I feel so dumb for getting in this mess to begin with, but now it's time to buckle down and get it taken care of.
I got into the whole trap during a bad time, and now I've taken out loans to pay back old ones. I promised myself I could handle it, but guess what?
I guess that's why they call them predatory lenders, huh?

Take heart,we have all been in your situation!
My bet is that you can take care of these yourself. Others in this forum have.
Some of these "Debt" companies have shady reputations as you can read for yourself in previous posts.
Good Luck!

mellius1967, go to www.paydayloaninfo.org and look up PA laws. POayday lending is Prohibited in your state. The max you can pay in principal is 24 percent per year. You can fight this these internet loans are not LEGAL in your state. KYSIDE38

I have loans with:
paychecktoday
cashnetusa
loanpointusa
OSL Marketing/FSM Group
500FastCash
There may be one or two others, I'm not at work, so I don't have access to some of my stuff.
Jeez, isn't that pathetic? I don't even know how many I have...
I had one with nationalpayday, but I think that one is completely paid off.

Cashnetusa is licensed in most states and loanpointusa is a dba for Geneva Roth. What state are you in?

Crap... the system must've logged me out while I was trying to find out how many loans I had. I'm the one that posted this:

I thought that none of them were "licensed" in PA, since payday lending is illegal?
So that means that they're allowed to lend to people in PA, but not operate a brick-and-mortar in the state, right? Does it mean anymore than that? Does it mean that I still have to pay the ridiculous interest?
And one more question, if payday lending is illegal in PA, how come there are Check 'n Go's all over the place, and "Cash Advance" signs in all of the local check-cashing places?

I just looked at cashnetusa's website and they do carry a license in your state.

mellis1967, I would send them each a certified letter stating that these types are loans are prohibited in the State of PA, cite your sources for this information and demand that these account be marked PIF.
