800-670-9944 Omni/OTC?

The past few weeks I have been getting nasty messages on my machine from a blocked number. The person calling ALWAYS begins talking before my machine starts recording, and ALWAYS hangs up on her before she’s done. So I’ve never got a name, complete phone number or company of this caller and what it was in reference to. In my opinion they were doing it on purpose.

Received another call today, this time I got a full number! DH called, person had an attitude and hung up on hubby. Person answering the phone would not tell DH the company name until finally he gave them what extension he needed (X-266). He was then told the company name was OTC. The person he was connected to said the company name was Omni.

Anyone know who these guys are?

Call the number and know the reason why are they calling you? I assume this may be something about one of your past debt. If they calling you with legitimate reasons, the info should be given to you otherwise, talk to their supervisor and get your number removed from their system.

If you see in my original post we DID call them and DID try to find out information but the person hung up on us only to leave a new message on my machine. Of course I know this is for a past debt, otherwise I wouldn’t have posted a question here about it.

I want to find out who they are collecting for and send a cease letter to stop them from calling me but they are being uncooperative. And I can't send a cease letter through the phone, can I? So I thought perhaps someone here would have experience dealing with them.

I will try to find the info on the company.

Don't stop calling them until you get their reasons. If you are not able to solve the problem with one person, you have to talk to one of their supervisor and get a remedy. When someone hangs up on your call, believe that you are doing something right.

You may also call the phone company and get their number blocked if this is not getting solved.

Updating the situation.

A few days before Christmas my hubby spoke to the same woman. We found out they are trying to collect for a Macy's account. Hubby asked them to send something in writing and the woman refused. She stated she was not obligated to send me anything. Hubby tried to get her address and she refused.

She has been calling and leaving messages two to three times a day every day. This woman has no concept about how to WAIT FOR A BEEP when speaking to a machine. By the time my machine connects she's done with the message and is saying goodbye.

I recently got this company's address through someone from these boards, and am planning on sending them a DV and cease from calling letter.

Some questions though. Is there a limit as to how many times they are allowed to call you per day?

What do I do when a CA refuses to give me their address, or to send me something in writing?

Call 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); and give them the phone # and the Name of the comp. (OMNI) and file a complaint. The woman from the FTC said that the more complaints they get the more likely something could be done. She also said that the comp must be pretty dumb cause how can they collect any $$ if they wont tell you anything about why they are calling!

received a call / answered the phone / asked that they identify themselves and they refused and hung up -then promptly called back. I guess that is their talking points training manual. RUDENESS / Unprofessional attitudes. But I still want to know for who they collect

PostPosted: Fri Apr 13, 2007 8:30 am Subject: Trouble here too

Thanks for the messages posted here about this company. I have been recieving messages on my recorder at home from this company for about two months. I thought that they would stop calling after awhile. I was WRONG. I finally called and NO ONE will tell you what company they are. I asked for my phone number to be taken out of their calling system and was told NO. I went totally ballistic on this girl named Holly who was so RUDE to me. I called my phone company afterwards and they will do NOTHING. So today, I called the State Attorney General here in Ohio. I cannot file a complaint unless I know the company. I would guess this company KNOWS this, that's why they give no information about themselves. The great folks at Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann's office did give me valuable information...which led me to this website!!! Thanks for the postings here, I hope i can get this company to quit calling my house now. YOu can also file a complaint with the Federal Trace Commision...view their website at ftc.gov. Thanks.

PostPosted: Thu Aug 30, 2007 2:41 pm Subject: Interesting People there at Omni

I am so thankful for this thread. I'm not in any credit trouble, thank the Lord, but the previous resident in the house I now own has apparently skipped out on a lot of debt. All the collection agencies have done reverse address searches and have my name and phone number. They all assume that I'm the same guy, but under an assumed name.

None have been so hateful and beligerent as Omni. I just got off the phone with "Holly" at extension 266. She says she's a supervisor, probably so. My first call to Omni ended when they asked to put me on hold and hung up on me. The second ended when Holly offered to let me speak to the original collection agent who called my home, but instead she hung up on me too. The third call I was able to speak to Holly again. It helped that I had the information above, i.e., the name, address, company president's name, etc.

She swore to me that they'd taken my number out of their database, but I doubt that. I told her that the next time they called, I'd take legal action. She asked me if I was threatening her, to which I replied, no, but I gave her the name of the law that they would be breaking if they persisted in calling me... Smile

Good luck if you actually owe money to these sharks. It was bad enough for me, and I don't owe them a dime.

I've gotten the nasty calls as well. They did send me a letter and pre-printed envelop. They are representing Macy's and want the money in full. I've written and told them I'm willing to make monthly payments and cannot pay account in full. If I could, we wouldn't be talking. They've threaten to take me to court and told me how I will have to pay court costs. I told them at least I will get payment arrangements. Anyone have any suggestions? Rolling Eyes

I don't know who this is, but I am receiving the same messages. For the past 2 weeks, the person's name is Daisy. Today it was Sandy. When I call the number back I get a recording that says, "We're sorry, your call cannot be completed as dialed. Please check your number and call again." I have NO clue what to do about this. It's becoming a daily annoyance. If anyone knows how to stop this or figure out who it is, please let me know.

PostPosted: Wed Apr 16, 2008 1:33 pm Subject: OMNI or OSM??

I got a call on my cell but didn't pick it up after seeing it was an 800 number I didn't recognize. I tried calling back and the woman said it was an organization called OSM, so I asked her why she called...she tried to get my number to forward the call on and I said nevermind. Not sure how they got my cell number as it is new and I don't give it out to anyone! Strange...
