Internet's first get-out-of-debt community - 134,000 members

I have not signed up and have not rec'd a call for the free consultation that is advertised here. Can someone explain what that is? Are they referring me to an independent agency in my area? Is that how this website is financed? What are the obligations?
I have contacted a nationally accredited credit counselor to help me do a debt consolotation. They are going to charge $40 to set it up and $30/month to deal with my creditors, in addition to what I will have to pay monthly for a number of years to get out of this mess that I freely admit I created myself.
Does that sound reasonable. Is it something you can do yourself? I am currently unemployed and recovering from some medical issues. Any free advise out there? Thanks.

Hi Bob -

You mention that you have not signed up with this site - but it appears that you registered on 12/22/06. Have you not heard from anyone yet? If not, hopefully you will soon. But if you have already contracted with another consolidation or settlement company, please feel free to let the consultant know when they call that you do not need their services.

I'm sure you can overcome this debt mess on your own, with the help of the company you are working with. We'll be here to support you along the way if you have any questions.
