is it possible to reach a debt settlement directly with a credit card company, without dealing through an intermediary?

Yes, you can negotiate with your creditors and arrange a lower repayment plan. Convince them by sending a couple of payments towards your account and see what they have to offer you. Get some tips in the DIY section and make a sound progress.

How long have you been behind in your payments? And how much do you owe? If you are recently delinquently, you can expect a 40 percent to 60 percent waive off of the total amount.
