I called Gsfil today because they had deposited money into my Checking account in the amount of 250.00 I have already paid them 465.00 and they still said I owe 265.00 I told them that I was going to get the attorney general after them and they said go ahead. They are not licensed in the State of Utah and how do I contact my attorney general from the state of Utah I want to report these guys immediarely. When I told them they were licensed they said how come we gave you a loan and we are licensed through all the natation. And then I request them to give my origanal loan that I had signed and they can' t provide that for me they say the have my voice contract. Help I need to know on what to do before they take out another 35 dollars this Friday Jan 19 2007

Close your account. They will keep debiting and drain your account. They did that to me! They do not care if you tell them that you are going to contact the ag's office becausse they feel that they are above the law. What state do you live in? Make sure that you register acomplaint with your state ag's office, the FTC and the DOF. But most important - close your account!

Read through this forum and you will find many threads that refer to this company. Many of the members have dealt with gfsil and have some good advice when dealing with this type of ipdl.

Bryan - welcome to the site!

Irish is exactly right - you need to close your bank account and open another account in order to regain control of your finances from this company. They are merciless and will bleed you dry if you don't stop them.

Unfortunately, your state laws do not afford you a lot of protection. Utah is one state where the payday loan law appears to only protect the lender, not the consumer:

Quote:
Legal Status: Legal (Applies to check cashers only)

Citation:
Utah Code Ann. ยง 7-23-01 et seq.

Loan Terms:
Maximum Loan Amount: No Limit
Loan Term: May not exceed 12 weeks
Maximum Finance Rate and Fees: No usury limit
Finance Charge for 14-day $100 loan: No Limit
apr for 14-day $100 loan: No Limit

Debt Limits:
Maximum Number of Outstanding Loans at One Time: No limit
Rollovers Permitted: Not Specified (cannot extend or renew loan more than 12 weeks from original loan date)
Cooling-off Period: None
Repayment Plan:

Collection Limits:
Collection Fees: Not Specified
Criminal Action: Not Specified

Where to Complain, Get Information:
Regulator: Utah Department of Financial Institutions
Address: 324 South State Street, Suite 201 Salt Lake City, UT 84111
Phone: (801) 538-8830
Fax: (801) 538-8894
http://www.dfi.utah.gov/

As you can see, there's not a lot of protection to the consumer in that law. I would highly recommend filing a complaint with your State Department of Financial Institutions as listed above. Also, speak with the manager of your bank and advise them that the debits that have been occurring have far exceeded what you owed, and that you need to close your account and open another. If you are in good standing with your bank, they should have no problem doing this for you. If they won't work with you, find another bank or credit union and open an account there. Simply putting a stop payment on this company's debits from your current account may not stop them - payday lending companies are notorious for attempting to debit your account under other company names if you block the original name.

Does everyone know that GFSIL is actually affiliated with Route 66 Funding / Cash Today Limited / Interim Cash. They have a huge network and try debits in your checking account using names of any of their affiliates, if one is not getting through. Read this:

aciotsf - yep, we're pretty much aware of all the DBA's this company has, but thank you for posting it again - it's always good to have a reminder! That was why I recommended closing the bank account - this company is really bad about trying to debit for different amounts than what is specified, or using another DBA name, in order to get around a stop payment placed by the account holder.

Ok I applied for a loan with another company online and was approved. That afternoon I started receiving phone calls from GFSIL which I thought was the lender that approved me. 7 times I went through approval with them and finally the money was deposited two days later, but so was another loan for 150.00 which was the actual company I applied through. Today we received a phone call from a Chad Stone saying that I owed 1350.00 and if I didnt pay 636.00 today that I would be charged with a felony something or another. They have debited my account until I had to remove my direct deposit and I am now 411 over drawn. Can they send me to jail and how do you stop them.

GFSIL has broken so many U.S. laws its not even funny. Just close your checking account and ignore their phone calls. The have no legal means to collect on any debt in the U.S. and they certainly can not send you to jail. If they come to the U.S. to sue somebody they will have a bunch of agencies after them for criminal charges.

If any of these offshores tried to collect through the courts over here, they would be in so much hot water, it wouldn't be worth it! They are not stupid enough to risk it.
