I keep recieving this message after I have paid all principal and sent letters. he doesn;t call just emails me which is a good thing I guess. Please read and comment:
| Quote: | I have extended a courtesy to you for the time allotted for payment on the account without extension fees, and extreme action taking place immediately. However, I will need for you to respond immediately with the amount you will pay on or before January 26, 2007, and the method in which you will fund this matter. I will need to receive this information today in order to file the account accordingly. Without this information I will have no other choice to exhaust for reimbursement other than to proceed against you. Please be advised that time is of the essence, an immediate response is necessary to prevent further action from taking place. Should you not be able to take advantage of the settlement offer please contact my office to make payment arrangements. Your account was in a defaulted status when it was received in my office, in conjunction with another defaulted arrangement should you fail to confirm and comply with a current payment will provide sufficient evidence for the account to be documented as a “willful evasion of debt,” which is cause for further action to take place immediately. All mail/email sent/received is recorded and duly documented in your file and your response provides notification of the debt. These notations serve as evidence in the event legal action should take place. Also note non-response will also be taken and noted in your file as an official “refusal” to pay and further action will proceed immediately. Thank you for your time and cooperation.

This is a generic letter. You need to talk with William Smith and get your account marked closed. They are sending you this letter because they still want to collect the interests and fees charged on your account. Have you checked if they are licensed in your area? File your complaints with the attorney general's office and get them investigate on this company

rmjacobs - keep us posted on your complaint with the AG - I'm also from MI and have filed complaints with the AG on other unlicensed payday lenders.

I haven't heard anything other than my complaints have been received, but it's only been a couple of months. I plan on contacting them again soon.

Love to here how this goes even though I don't live in Michigan. I've had a lot of problems with Westbury myself.

It could be a phishing attempt. I don't know the whole story and if you have dealt with this company before but I have received strange emails lately saying stuff similar to this and to "update my account immediately" and they give a special link to "update" my "account."
proceed with caution is what I recommend doing!

"Phishing" is an e-mail sent to you with details about an account you may have with a particular company - say Paypal or a bank. The sender will indicate that your account has somehow been compromised, and that you have to click on the link included in the e-mail to verify your identity and prevent loss of your funds or identity theft.
Clicking on the link included in the e-mail will send your information directly into the hands of criminals who WILL steal your identity and your money, and whatever else they can get access to with the information you provide.
