Welcome to the forums mzhavens! Um for starters? Get a copy of your credit report from all three reporting bureau's, review it & take it from there. Come on back for additional help, don't be afraid to ask. There's always someone comes by that may a fair amount of advice & tips. okie dokie?

Once you compare your credit copies very thoroughly, find out any possible errors and dispute it immediately with the bureaus. They will verify the item with the data furnishers and remove the inaccurate entries.
Calculate the total debts and call the creditors individually. You have to pay off these accounts and see your credit scores improving. You can work out payment arrangements and insist them to do a fair reporting with the bureaus.

This might seem kind of basic, but here goes-----if you are wanting to "fix" your credit definitely follow the advice given above. But, also begin now (if you haven't already) to make payments on time, always trying to pay a little more than the minimum, if you can.

Another little tip - once you get your credit reports, find the bill with the lowest balance due and pay it off immediately, if possible, and begin paying on the other bills, paying something on each one each month if you can. That will show the creditors you are at least trying to pay the bill off, and by starting to pay off the smallest bills in conjunction with paying something on all the larger ones, you'll be debt free sooner than you think!
