So they're not calling work anymore, but are now calling my cell to give me the old Bass and Associates line that I better payup by 11 a.m. tomorrow or else they're treating it as a bad check!!!!!
Sigh...Does being downloaded hurt?

We should correct their verbage ... if they really were going to send your file electronically to somebody, be it a court or their attorney, they would need to "upload" it. It is the recipient who downloads it.

Precisely, DebtCruncher! Guess those folks must be a little "computer-challenged". Upload, download...it's all so confuzzling....

At least if you're gonna make up some mumbo jumbo, your should say it right. I think if someone told me they were gonna download my file, I would have to say something clever like "while you download my file, I'll be downloading Paris Hilton's file."

That's a good one DebtCruncher! I've always thought the "download" threat was pretty funny - most people don't know what to make of it, because it even sounds like it's coming out of left field somewhere. Those companies that use that threat are counting on you being befuddled by that comment and paying because you don't know what they plan on doing next.

Kscornell - also "better be somewhere safe" because 25 people are coming for you and your picture will be in the paper! LOL!

Just wondering, has anyone ever told them to go ahead and "download" you?

Or has anyone asked if they can go turn themselves in?

What do they say when they've already threatened to arrest you once, and for obvious reasons, it didn't happen?

Morningstar - I once told a collector who said that I was going to jail, to "come and get me - I needed the rest. I have 18 year old wins,my three granddaughters live with me, my job sucks and I am in debt. Jail would be a great relief?" He promptly hung up on me.

I told them to go ahead and come and get me, I need a vacation. Didn't stop them though, next phone call it was the exact same threat, word for word. They need a new line.

The first time they hung up, but when they called back with the same line, I told them I was packed with my suitcases by the door and waiting patiently. Jennifer was her name asked me if I thought it was a joke? I told her that they are a joke and I will be waiting patiently. Here it is months later and I am still at home waiting. LOL
