God I need help

Okay now is when I need some outstanding help here people. First I took my payroll dept. at work a change of account as to where to deposit my check,(I opened a new account at a different bank and had them to deposit it there. That was Tuesday morning. Now on Wed. Morning I closed the old checking account and I assumed that they would not allow any more activity to take place on this account. Well guess what, both my employer and my old bank (in my opinion anyway) dropped the ball. Not only did my employer deposit my check into my OLD (and supposed to be closed account), but my old bank (which was supposed to have closed the account) let them and all the 3 PDL's took out all the money that they felt was due them. I have absoultely no money now to pay my house payment, my electric bill, or by food for my daughter and I. And to top that off I got a disconnect notice from the electric company due for Monday. Is there anything I can do?

Go to your bank and tell them that you revoked the ach authorization. Show them the letters as proof. Make them reverse the charges.

I'm sorry this happened. Most banks have policies that allow them to force open a closed account if any ach transactions go though for a period of time.

But your best bet right now is with the bank. Dispute, dispute, dispute! Tell them that these companies no longer had authorization and don't accept anything less from them but a reversal. If you need more help pertaining to the banking issues, I know quite a bit so post here or pm me and I can help you sort things out.

I try to post this everytime I advise someone to close thier bank account:

Banks will reopen a closed account if an ach transaction is put through usually within 30 days, but some banks as long as 60 days. You need to stress to your bank that unauthorized transactions will probably try to go through. Explain your situation. Most banks can and will freeze your account so nothing at all can go through. But don't do this over the phone, it really needs to be in person.

Wish I had know this when I closed the account. I'm at work right not and it feels like the world is crashing in around me, because honestly I'm scared to death. This is the deperate situation that I think not only myself but other's feel themselves surrounded by and can figure no other way out but to borrow money they really can't afford to pay back. I've got emails I sent to them and where they replied back to me with 2 of them, Sonic Cash never acknowledge mine nor returned any calls, although I did email them revoking. I know I sound somewhat dazed but I just am scared like I've never been scared. I just keep seeing my little girl's face when there's no lights in the house. I really appreciate your help goudah, just wish I didn't need any. I feel like the worst mother since Joan Crawford right now.

I don't know how far away you work from your bank, but maybe try to see if they will let you leave for a short time to take care of this. Make sure you print off copies of the letters you send the pdl companies showing that you revoked authroization to debit your account and then also talk to the person in payroll to see what happened. Might have been something that the direct deposit was already in the works and could not be stopped for this week. I do not know how your company is, but because of all this, maybe they could give you an "employee loan", just enough to cover what you need to cover and then take payments out of you pay check to pay them back. Some companies offer that. But I would get started on getting this taken care of. And don't feel like a bad mother. You did what you had to do and thought everything was ok. Don't beat yourself up over this.

Sandy - We've all been there. Things happen.

Just stay calm at the bank. You may try to tell them that you don't accept that deposit (you dd paycheck) and tell them you want it sent back. I don't know if they will do that, but it's worth a try. Once they send it back you work can cut you a paper check.

First I want to say thanks for the help, lord knows I need it. So, Friday morning when I got off work I went straight to the bank, and I'll try to tell you what they told me without getting too confused. As of Fri. morning these withdrawls were "ach memos" meaning that they would not be "hard posted" until Fri. night. So the lady told me to come back in Monday morning and fill out something called an affidavit for peanilty of purgiry (I'm not too good at spelling, huh?). Then after I do that I guess they put the money back in my account, and then I have to go and draw the money out of the account again, close the account and be sure to tell the teller when I do, to mark the account "DO NOT REOPEN" Which in my opinion is silly, because if I closed the account to begin with wouldn't it stand to reason that I didn't want it reopened? Now if I weren't so upset and scared about the bills I might find this part funny, but it seems if my employer had not deposited the check in that account then when those withdrawls were presented to the bank they would have sent them back "account closed" but because they did that's what reopened my account and allowed the activity to occur. Now I have a couple of questions that I should have asked at the bank but just didn't think of them. What all is involed in filling one of these affidaviats out, and how long does it take for the bank to put the money back in the account? Unfourntely my employer doesn't do the loan thing, and I'm still wondering how I'm going to pay the stupid bills. One more thing, once you revoke authorization to withdraw from someone's account, legally they can't do it any longer, correct. I know they will anyway, but LEGALLY they aren't supposed to right? But as I said if my employer had deposited my check in my new account, everything they tried to withdraw would have been sent back and my account wouldn't have been reopened to begin with.

What a mess!

Luckily your bank is being helpful, it shouldn't take too long for the money to come back in, I remember last year I had a dispute over a PDL withdrawal and the bank said I'd get my money back(minus $20 fee) within 72 hours. It only took about 24 if I remember correctly.

As far as your direct deposit..I work in HR, and it really takes time to change that..In my company, and I think this is pretty standard, The checks are cut and I'm done with payroll 5 days before payday. There is NO way for me to change direct deposit info unless I have at least a week notice, sometimes even more.

First off,
This forum is a no-Sandy bashing zone, OK? And that means you too, Sandy. So stop that. We are going to help you get through this and now we have to fix it. You are going to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again, like the song says.
Monday morning, you are going to be in line at that bank when it opens and tell the teller you need to speak with a supervisor if you have to to get your money back. Bring all of your letters like other people on the forums have told you and take names.
Then make a call to your HR and get that mess straight. There is light at the end of the tunnel and you WILL GET THROUGH THIS!! And you have to, for your daughter!!
We are here for you...

Not sure how long your bank will take, but when we have gone in first thing in the morning, they had the transaction reversed by that afternoon. I would also call the utility company and see if they can extend you for a short time longer. Explain the situation to them or at least see if they will make payment arrangements with you. I have had to do that many times, get extensions or make arrangments with my utility company. The paperwork you have to fill out is not that complicated and should not take any time to get done, but do make sure you have copies of your letters. Sending prayers and positive energy your way! Sandy after you get all this straightened out you will need to let us know who the companies are, how much you borrowed, how much you paid back, what state you are in, so then we can help you get rid of these jerks. Hang in there, it will be ok!

I'm in the great state of Arkansas. And thank you, thank you I would love to have help making sure I'm figuring this correctly, not so good at math. I have 3 loans out all internet, but so I don't confuse myself I thought I would give them to you one at a time if that's alright?
So here goes, Payday-Loan-Yes borrowed $400.00,
Paid:
120.00 on Jan. 25
170.00 on Feb. 8
105.00 on Feb. 22
At this point I caculated that I owed them a balance of $45.00, and on Feb 28 sent them an email revoking authorization and also told them I would send that balance of 45.00 via money order to them afterwards having my account PIF, received an email back from them basically telling me no way.
Then this past Thurs, March 8, they took another 155.00, this is the one I'm going to the bank about Monday and having the money put back in my account after I file the affidivat. Which should have be still having a balance of $45.00 with them which I'm more than willing to pay. So does this sound correct to ya'll?(do I sound like I'm from Arkansas?) Please, I'm open to all corrections, comments, and suggestions. And when your ready for the next loan and amounts let me know, I accept all help. You are all just GREAT!

And yes you are correct I'm a single mother, and every single mother out there knows how hard it is. Then when father forgets he needs to help support his child, it gets even harder. I hope I don't sound too bitter, but honestly sometimes it's hard not to be. I do consider myself the lucky one though, I get to be with my daughter all the time!

Sandy,
You might want to consider closing the checking account after you file the affadavit, they will continue to debit your account. Close it and open a new one. Your bank should be ok with that.

You can list all three loans, I had 10 when I came here, down to 3 now.
