I hear horror stories all the time about people getting calls at work from PDL's trying to get their money. I am closing my bank account tomorrow and next week will be starting a new account so they can't take my money anymore. I have contacted T&C and they will be helping me with my debt but I am afraid that the companies will still be going after me at work and all. Is this true? Will they still be going after me even if I am working with a consolidation company or is that only if I were to stop paying them altogether once I have paid off my principal and what I owe them in general. My biggest worry is Route 66 because I have heard it several times on here about how they called people's work harrassing them and what not. If they call my work and do that I will probably get fired, I'm in management and shouldn't be getting calls like that.

kim - If you gave them your work phone number, chances are very good that you WILL get a call from them. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they are one company that is very hard to deal with when it comes to the phone calls. You have to play tough with them.

Tweety - a C&D letter is a good idea, but Rt. 66 is not located in the US, and they think they are not bound by our laws. They'll tell you so. Anything you can do to get them to stop is a good idea - a C&D, file complaints to the State AG and the BBB - anything you can do.

I went back and checked some messages that they had sent me before "payment reminders" and on that file it has my cell phone listed on there twice, as my home and work. So I'm thinking that MAYBE I had it switched to use my cell as both my cell and work. Crossing my fingers. Will I have that problem with other companies that I DID give my work number to?

That's the only number I have......I only carry a cell, I have no home, I would rather them have my cell than my work number. I'm afraid they are going to be constantly calling me and I don't want to get in trouble for getting so many "personal" calls.

I should rephrase that because after reading it, it really sounded bad. I have a home..........just not a home phone lol

If you are not in default yet, call them and change the number now before the crap hits the fan. You will have to be inventive, give them another number for work, not your work number.

The only number I could change it to would be the "employment verification" number which is just for the company to provide to lenders to verify, its not actually my work number. But other than that we only have one number with hundreds of lines on that one number ( i work in retail). I'm hoping that they will change it without checking it first. Do you think they will actually delete my real work number or just add that as another?

I would give them a number to a completely different store altogether, not the one that you work at. Give them one down the street. I doubt they will call and verify, they do this when processing the loan.

yeah i didn't want to do that though because sometimes i work at the other ones as well, so they would probably just redirect them to my home store........the number i gave them is employment verification and its just a recording at first so they wont be able to get to me, just verify my employment with target, which they already knew about anyway
