Banks charging fees

I just happened to remember something that I wanted to let everyone know in case they aren't aware of this. When I was dealing with some of my storefronts and when it came time for them to deposit my check, they had told me that depending on the amount of the check, they will call and verify funds. The thing that shocked me was they told me that some banks and credit unions charge a fee on the customer's account of a business calls to verify funds.

I was not aware of this at all Mad

They never told me the name of the banks or credit unions, they were just informing me of that. I don't know if storefronts are the same in the state you are in, but here in OH, when your loan is due you can either pick your check up, or they can deposit it. That is when they were telling me this, b/c one-time I had them deposit my check b/c I couldn't get in to pick it up. I don't think my bank does, or I should at least say, I've never see any unknown fees. That's probably another way that the storefronts know they will get paid by telling people this. The best thing to do is check with your bank's policy about verifying funds.

I didn't know that either! Some banks are charging the customer for anything and everything! And to think, these banks wouldn't be in business if we weren't "loaning" them our money. Like they don't make enough off investing out funds . . . .

When I had an account with Bank One, now Chase Bank, they charged fees for everything under the sun.

First of all, they charged me $3.00 to use a teller, either inside the bank or outside the bank.

Then they charged me $1.50 to withdraw my own money from my checking account. If I went to another bank, I got charged $2.50 and additional $2.00 for going to another bank.

Honestly, you got charged for everything. It was beyond ridiculous. Now I have Capital One Bank and I actually have an account where I get money back, a few cents in interest each month.
