Alright well I just got screwed by citibank, Apparently they accepted my account into debt management on the 6th of feb but payment was made on the 5th so they did not count that towards their markup and they sent me to collections because payment "was not made". Now i'm with NCO Financial, anyone have any ideas on how these people are and how to settle with them? thanks

You are still allowed to make payments to Citibank because they surely have hired NCO for collecting on the account. It doesn’t look like Citibank has sold your account. Verify it with them and ask them to update your account with the last payment.
NCO Financial is a bunch of rude collectors. I highly recommend you to stay away from them and make arrangements with Citibank directly.

well is till recieved a payment via Citibank for my zales account, and my online account access is still enabled so maybe NCO collects and ships to them. i'll give citibank a call again and see what i can pull up. They just say i'm referred to NCO and give me a different number.

i just talked with them again and it looks like they charged it off and sent it to their citibank collections number which i called but they gave me a # for NCO because they say "they're handling the account" ugh, when the account is charged off it means that NCO bought the debt right? it hasn't even been a few days!

You can ask NCO if they own the account. Because it is so early, they probably don't. NCO can be ok to deal with. Sometimes the longer negotiations go on the more they will discount the account. However along with that may come some violations of the FDCPA and/or state law. Protect yourself.

Citibank doesn't waste any time charging off accounts. I had a regular credit card account with them several years ago and sent them a payment (as I had promised to do) and they charged off the account two days after that! RETARDS!
I currently have one private label citibank account with NCO and they are quite possibly the most friendly and easiest to work with collection company I have dealt with. They have never yelled at me, threatened me or anything bad. They have called but each time it's more or less a courtesy call and they are more than willing to work with me. We made easy payment arrangements on the account and I should have it paid off in the next several months.
The bottom line is if you work with them, they will work with you.

yeah i'll be calling them first thing tomorrow, i called the citibank collections # they gave me and they turned me over to NCO. But the customer service rep that gave me the citibank collections # checked with her manager and they both said to call them so i'll check tomorrow again. They said they charged it off on the 26th so it is not that far off. I have not recieved anything from NCO but i'll try and hopefully keep the account with citibank and keep my payments with them

Awwww, sorry to hear about your husband. Those NCO Bast@**$ will not try to mess with me like that, i'm going to record every conversation i have with them and try to pursue a settlement. I just recieved my NCO Letter today and Citi said that they no longer own the account so NCO owns it. UGH, of course the one account i've been working on settling has to go to NCO.

Be very careful and document everything, they can be descent, but they can be real jerks too.
tsacgiv, I am sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience. You will need to gather all your payment information that you sent them to go to court and present it as evidence to the judge. I hope the judge you gets breaks their arms for taking advantage of you. goodluck.
Blizz,
Also wanted to add that whatever decision you make, make sure you get a paid in full letter, so they don't sell the balance off to another collection agency.

Well Tim from NCO just called me, I was pleased with how he handled my situation. They stated that my account was in "Pre-Charge Off" and wanted me to come up with like 600 bux lol, but he sent me to someone and said they could cut it off at 20% and then just pay the 600 in two monthly payments then the rest in 4 so i'll have the account paid off in september! hopefully earlier if i start shoving money at it. They were easy to deal with and I believe as long as you don't get shitty with them they'll work with you. But I will just have to wait and see lol.
