I have a question....

This morning my husband's check was garnished. It was for the amount of 283.00. Northway Financial is who did it. We were not notified that they were going to do this. It just was taken out of his check. I know wage assignment is illegal in Oregon. Is there any way we can get this money back. I just filed a complaint with the Attorney General, but is there any thing else we can do get it back. we revoked all wage assignment and they did it anyway.

You may also want to research the loan people's contarct. Some of them, in small print, include taking of money with your permission, if you default on a loan. It is something that some of these crooks put in there, that most consumers don't see, and then they find out just as you did. You can first tell payroll to not do that anymore.

Show the copies of the revocation letter to the AG and push them to investigate on Northway Financial. I am not sure if you will ever get that money back unless you have an attorney and file a case. You might have to kiss it goodbye.

Definitely talk to your payroll and request in writing not to allow any such debits in the future.

Did you revoke your voluntary wage assignment? This company also goes by Cash Transfer Center and they will enforce the voluntary wage assignment if you do not revoke it or notify your employer that you are revoking it. Doubt you will get your money back.

I get pissed off when I witness people being blind-sided.

That is what would have happened to me with Payday Avenue if I had not found this site. My life would have been ruined...not that it is in such great shape right now anyway.

I will tell you one thing, I love seeing people coming here everyday, brand new members, because they researched a collection company before handing over their money out of fear.
