Guess I needed a good laugh today...just got a text message on my phone. Here is what it says:

Quote:
"U qualify for a 2nd PayDay LOAN up to $500 even if U have anther loan! If U needthat extra money TODAY, go to fcl6.com"

I get voice messeages once in a while, automated, saying I qualify for one of these things. I figured I was blacklisted by now. I was on the phone to my husband when it came in and I read it to him and he just started laughing. Not getting into this trap again!!!

I used my yahoo email address for the pdls and I swear there are always almost 200 msgs in there when I get home at night. Most of them are for pdls, some for "enhancment or growth", some for car loans, mtg loans, just about everything under the sun. I try to skim through them in case something that is suppose to go through doesn't make it and then I just delete the whole mess. This is the first text msg I have gotten but have gotten some automated voice mails. Rolling Eyes

Oh No!!! I have 4 different email addresses, my work, my main home one, my yahoo and my hotmail. I use the hotmail is one the kids school has so I can check it here at work, my yahoo (which I use to be able to check here but can't anymore) I used for the pdls (and I keep it because my IM with my friends and that is the email my ex uses), and then my regular home email for most of the emails and then my work one. I used my cell phone number instead of the home. Don't know what made me do that, but I did, which has saved me from getting tons of calls on my home phone!

I used to get the text messages offering pdl's too . . . . I haven't had any for probably 4 months now . . . If I remember correctly at the end of the messages I got there was info on how to unsubscribe. I did that on one message and never got another text message from a pdl . . . .

Offers from the pdl companies can be blocked by registering in the do not call website https://www.donotcall.gov/

All marketing calls can be put in the Do not call list. So, I assume that text message is one of their marketing strategies. If the company is asked to stop calls, they need to stop messaging also.

I laugh every time I open my yahoo email-I get tons of these pdl offers every day--I just click on the spam button, but they come back the next day with a different name lol.

This is a message board, not the company sending you the messages. If you want to post more info we may be able to help you locate that company you are looking for . . .

Listing a phone number on the Do Not Call list DOES NOT stop them from sending text messages. It is intended to stop unwanted marketing CALLS, and if you have done business with them in the past they are exempt unless you specifically and directly ask them NOT to call you. If your cell phone is through Verizon, you can go to vtxt.com and after signing up you have an option to block text messages from specific numbers or domains. Some phone also have this as a text message setting on the phone its self (My V325I has this setting option).

I wish that I had Verizon. I have Alltel and they said there is no way to block specific numbers or domains. The only thing I could do was block ALL text messages.

I've gotten a few text messages myself but it's been awhile. I did the unsubscribe thing too and it seemed to work.
