I had set up a payment plan with Paycheck Today for $150 a month and not only did they take that they also debited my account for 3 additional amounts: $50, $45 and $30. Any suggestions on dealing with them to get my money back?

Do you have the payment plan in writing and Paycheck Today signed for it?
This looks like an unauthorized debit. Talk to your bank about this withdrawal. They will dispute the charges with the company. If they are unable to verify, they will try to get your money back.

No, I didn't have it in writing. It was agreed to over the phone after much back and forth with me telling that I couldn't afford the full amount anymore. Do I still have recourse with my bank since I don't have it in writing?

Next time, always make sure that you have the proposal in writing. It serves as a very important proof like you see in this case. Ask your bank to dispute the extra charges since they agreed for one withdrawal only. They will verify the case.
