Hi Joy -

If somebody's opened an account in your name without your knowledge or permission, then you need to file a police report immediately. You also need to place a fraud alert on your credit file with the CRAs.

Hey GEMB Care Credit is T-Mobile's billing service. I just found this out because someone stole my SS# and opened 2 T-Mobile accounts in my name!

We received a call from GE Money today.
They were trying to verify a large purchase, but we didn't open any account.
All three credit agencies are showing that an account with GEMB/CARE CREDIT was opened by "Salt Lake City Dental" for $7500. Sounds like identity theft.

I had the same problem with my credit report.

I found a couple numbers

1-866-396-8254
1-866-239-4362

There's also a webpage...gemoney.com

I just called and canceled it, though I never remember opening it in the first place. Good luck to you guys!

Reply: Thanks for the phone numbers. I called and they closed the account. Thankfully it was something that I had opened myself 6 years back and had paid off however it showed up on the credit report as revolvoing and I had no idea as to what it was.

I took my dog to vet, found out her lumps were breast cancer. I spoke about worry of being able to pay for it , even if on a credit card. I even said I had great credit and wondered if was best to get the Care credit or use my cc I already had. They mentioned a processing fee. I called Care Credit who said no, they couldnt charge that to me. In an emotional state I went ahead and used the card. Again Care Credit said they shouldnt have after they ahd put fee on my card. First call the person was just going to report that to dept that needed to know. I called vet and let them know what I was told. The co owner vet wasnt familiar with alot but had a clerk call care credit and stated they were told they could pass on the charge to me. Vet stated that they only charged me half of the fee. I should have read the agreement more closely, I admit that. Today I call Care Credit. I got all the names and such. They took info about the fee as again the supervisor told agent to tell me no, cant be charged to me. Praying they will get somewhere with this. I wish I had used my low interest CC. Hind sight is 20/20.

I received an alert on my credit report for a new account and the amount I owe. The company was GEMB-Care Credit. I contacted Equifax right away via-mail to dispute this since it does not belong to me. I also called the following number that I found in one of the above entries (thank you) and the lady I spoke to was from the fraud dept 800-268-9131 she was very helpful. She told me that there was no account under my name (I did not give her my SS# and she did not ask) she told me that it looks like the credit company made a mistake and that this belong to someone else and that I need to dispute with Equifax. Hope this helps.

Apparently there is a GE Bank charge on MY credit reports also!! They even had ba**s to hire a collection attorney and send a wage garnishment to my employer!!! We fought the matter in court because this is NOT mine nor did I ever sign anything or have any knowledge of it, yet they sure have my social security number as a co-signer!!!!!!!!!! This company is BOGUS and I don't know HOW to get it off of my credit report!!! It's driving me nuts and there isn't ANYTHING I can do about it. I have moved, and I'm almost afraid to contact these stupid people b/c they can't speak english and I know just as soon as I give them my new address they'll try to slap the debt on me once again!! Help???

You are the cosignor? Who is the primary? Did you ever request a DV for proof of the debt? Having your SS# is not proof...your signature would be. Did you file a police report?

Care Credit is a medical credit card that can be issued through store like Sears. I opened one to pay for dental services through Sears dental. Their overlimit fees and fines are huge. Look up carecredit.com

I found something on my credit report that was listed as GEMB and 99 dollars was charged in my name although it was not me. The date listed was about 30 days after I applied for Care Credit. Care credit was supposed to be a loan for my dieing cats surgery but I was NOT approved. 30 days later THIS was on my credit!

Applying for credit online = Identity theft.

Also, NEVER order anything from Proflowers....they share your credit card info with a third party company that takes money from your credit card, saying that they're "saving you money". They steal from you the more you buy from them. I know this from experience.
