SHW Recovery: What to do if they have debited your account

SHW Recovery or Smith, Haynes and Watson Recovery is a third party collection agency based out of Kansas City, Missouri. They are involved in collecting mostly for payday lenders but they also collect on subprime accounts, utility bills and credit card debts. They represent many creditors including Eastside Lenders. Hence, if you have loan with this lender and have defaulted on it, you might have to deal with SHW as well.

What consumers have to say about SHW Recovery

Consumers participating in the DebtCC forums have shared their experiences with the company. Here's what they have to say.

  • Unauthorized withdrawal: According to a member, fedupinpa, SHW Recovery collection agency made direct withdrawals from her account without any authorization.
  • No response to customers: Consumers have complained that they never get a real person to speak to when they try to contact SHW Recovery about the unauthorized withdrawals. Know more...

What to do when SHW Recovery has debited your account

  • Check account balances frequently - It is important that you keep checking your bank account balance time to time to learn about any unauthorized transaction. If you see unauthorized withdrawal from SHW Recovery Services, you'd need to take immediate action. You either need to set up a payment plan with them to get rid of the account fast or you may send a validation letter if you aren't sure that you owe the debt.
  • Dispute the withdrawals with the bank - Once your account gets debited the best option for you is to dispute the withdrawal with the bank and get it reversed. Most of the banks would cooperate with you in this regard. However, some may require a police report, especially the credit unions, in order to take action against SHW Recovery.
  • Cancel credit/debit card information - You must cancel any debit or credit card information that you have given during applying for the loan.
  • Contact SHW Recovery - You may also try to contact SHW directly to dispute the matter. You can use the following address and phone number to contact SHW Recovery.

That is the exact same messege that I got, I have no clue who it is, they don't identify themselves, it just states as you said. I have no clue who it is or why they took the money, my bank said they would refund me if I dispute it, they wanted me to attempt the phone call first. Please let me know who it is if you find out and I will do the same.

Found out who they are.
They are collecting for payday loans one with heritage, I have never had a loan with them so I assume it was for another one and they changed their name and for East side lenders who was paid in full. This is such a headache. My bank is dealing with them now, I called them and told them that I revoked all ach authorization from both of those lenders, their reply was that I did not revoke it from them. I NEVER gave it to them. So I faxed a letter revoking it yesterday.

Just had $379.05 debited from my checking account on last week Friday. I called my bank and they told me to call. I left several messages and called back on today and got customer service who put me on hold and never came back!! I was able to fill out an unauthorized entries form with my bank and they are going to refund me my money. This almost caused my mortgage payment to bounce if it would have come through at the same time. I am frustrated to say the least.

My deduction was for Heritage, which represents Quick Draw Cash. The problem is that they found out my new bank information. If you have had a payday loan, they will not rest, and unfortunately they can do it. Ask for a settlement, they were very nice to me, and knocked 600 off the balance and took installments which you can do through western union.

They initially hit my account for $500, I put in a stop payment asap, then they worked out a payment arrangement. I am finished with them now, it was Heritage, an old payday loan that I thought went away, well, I guess they never go away. At least they are paid now.

$400 from my account for which i never heard
of these people and looked up on line to see
and seen another response. These people

made responsible to pay return fees.

i work at a bank that this company has hit accounts at. You need to file a dispute with the bank. The company number is not responding to calls. The best option is for your bank to refund the money. you may want to contact your local police station and see what measures can be taken.
