Where do I begin with debt settlement? Credit cards are 1 month behind and no way of paying them? Loss of business and a lot less income.

You can either settle on your own or hire a reputable debt settlement company. Be sure when shopping around with settlement companies that you check them out with the Better Business Bureau to make sure they are either members or at least a solid track record.

1st thing you need to do is write close account letters to your creditors, this will let them know you will not abuse your priviliges anymore,

2nd start saving money.

3rd at about 90 days delinquency let your creditors know you want to settle accounts,

and 4th If you have time and are well organized you can actually settle your own debt and save money. Avoid the fees for a settlement program and settle your own debt. If you want there are plenty of cheaper alternatives, do a google search under do it yourself debt settlement and I guarantee you it will cost you less to settle your own debt. At least you will be in charge of your situation and the money you have saved up can actually be put to good use.

Bravo!!!!! "doityourselfdebtsettlemen"!! You a real guru who know how to give a straight asnwer when it is asked. THis is the questionn that all new people are asking. It should encourage people to do it themselves and save money to help them to pay it back and not to hire more third party to charge you more on top of what you own for something that you can do it yourself. If you came this far to find help you should be able to finish. If you dug yourself this deep, you should be able and brave enought to dig youself out. Don't but your hard earned money in some third party hands. Take control of your life, by taking this first step. We all have misfortune in life and this is your chance to getting back up!!
