Hi, I gave my x-gf my bank information including my card number and my online banking password (obviously wasn't a wise decision). Anyways, after we separated, she used it to pay her credit card bill (almost $5000) using online banking. When i contacted my bank to stop it, she claimed that I'm that I approved this transaction and that's why she did the transfer!! and she showed them the mail i sent to her with my information long time ago!

Now, shall I hold responsibility for this? what shall i do? please advice me, or tell me how to get my money back if it is possible?

Regards
Ashraf Atalla

Report this as theft. File a police report and identify her as the offender. Let the police handle it.

That's what I did, but on of my friends told me that i wont get anything from it as she has a proof that she didnt steel my information and i gave it to her.

Also, how can they find out that she is the one that did the transaction not me?? over the past year and half, she had many transfers from my account to her credit card under my knowledge untill she did this last one with the $5000!

Were these transfers done in person or over the internet? Internet transfers are logged by IP address.

Then the bank should have records of the IP address(es) used to make the transfers. Contact your local PD and ask them.

I would definitely file a police report...just because you gave someone your information doesn't mean they can have free access to do whatever they want with it. If you do this & press charges ~ you can have your day in court and they can help you sort out this mess.

Even if she made it from a public computer ~ the money had to go somewhere...if she used to pay her credit card bill like you said...they will be able to link it to her account.

You're not going to know anything unless you try ~ if you let these "if" questions over power you ~ you're going to be sitting there with answerless questions missing $5000.

Your original email to her giving her the information...did you write anything else? Like why you were giving her the information or for a specific purpose??
