Im not sure which would be best suited for me, maybe you guys could provide some insight.

my situation;

Debt: $20,000 credit card debt

Credit Score: 680 because of high debt amount, no delinquencies, everything up to date. My credit score was about 780 before all the debt screwed up my debt to income ratio.

Total Monthly Minimum:
$500.00

all My cards are current, with no delinquencies

I was really considering doing debt settlement because these 500 dollar monthly payments are getting harder and harder to keep up with and they are just paying the minimum and it will take a lifetime to pay it all off that way. This balance is from about 5 credit cards, Any help will be greatly appreciated

debt settlement is a service for consumers who want out of debt at the lowest cost, in the shortest time frame; with the lowest payment… while avoiding bankruptcy.

credit counseling, on the other hand, is a solution that lowers your interest rates slightly and can get you a lower monthly payment sometimes but usally not by much because you are still paying the entire debt, their fees and some interest.

Questions to ask yourself?

Are you living off your credit cards?
Could you pay for everything without using your cards?
Can you afford making your current minimum payments?
Are you going to do that for the rest of your life?
How do you plan to get out of debt?

I have about 32k in card debt and I'm buried with no light in sight. Now that I realize that I have to do something other than continue to pay the minimum each month - which is getting harder and harder to do, I now don't know what company to consider -- who's honest and reliable and who's just out to scam. any suggestions.
