I talked today with a lady regarding my 57 day late Advanta bank corp account. First of all she mentioned to me debt management, I then mentioned to her that dmp would not help my monthly payments be lowered and I mentioned debt settlement. She then told me that they do not deal with DS companies as they require them to "sell" my account and they don't do that. I had never heard that before. And she also said that as of the 30th my account would leave her department and so somewhere else, collections I assumed. I explained my situation to her and she wasn't rude but she still was wanting me to make a whole payment when I had just explained that I could not. We then got cut off when I went down into a bad cell phone place. If they don't deal with DS companies, will they deal with DS lawyers? Reason for Editing (Minimum 15 Characters)

Actually, the last case I see was in 2009 by Federated Financial Corp. of America on behalf of Advanta. Before that, only 5 2008, and the rest 2006 and prior. Does anyone know if Federated is still a CA for Advanta? Reason for Editing (Minimum 15 Characters)

FWIW...I quit paying Advanta about 10 months ago, got 3-5 phone calls a day for the first 8 months. I never answered any of the phone calls. I haven't had a phone call for about 2 months and after pulling my credit report a few weeks ago I found out that Advanta has charged off my account! Not exactly sure what that means though...I'm thinking I'm free and clear from them suing me...???

I quit paying back in May 2009. Haven't been on this website in months. Absolutely nothing has happened since then.

I still get the occasional phone call from Philips & Cohen. That's all that has happened.

I sent Advanta an accord and satisfaction check- for 7% of alleged balance, with letter of dispute in June 2010, kept hetting calls for a while, then got a postcard from CardWorks with a 25% settlement offer. I sent them a copy of the accord and satisfaction check and the letter of dispute. The only thing I've heard since was a letter from CardWorks stating that they made a mistake with one line of text on the postcard (they had a class action against them for certain wording on the postcard). Haven't heard anything from anybody since.
Advanta got what they deserved.

My Advanta account landed with Creditors Interchange. I'd worked with them before on another charge off. Of course I never paid any small amounts and then waited till I had a sum to offer. 15% on a $21,000 debt and they took it. Then they have to notify CardWorks which services Advanta accounts who then notify the CRBs. It was taking so long so I contacted CardWorks myself, faxed them the settlement letter from CI. CardWorks was surprised that I got CI as low as 15%. Good luck!

I quit paying on my balance of 11k in September of 2011, I get two calls a day from advanta / card works of which I never answer. I have sent them a debt validation request 3 times, each time they respond with a copy of a computer print screen application. I have responded stating that according to the FCRA they need to produce something with my signature proving that then debt is valid. They can’t, but they continue to send me a monthly bill showing late fees and higher interest charges... I guess I will just continue to throw them in the trash until they can prove that I am obligated to pay them anything.

Adavanta told ME they will send the 1099 not in the year it became valid but when it was to their advantage in the future say 2013. 2 years later. I closed my account in 10, reduced paid off in 11 and expected a 1099 reflecting that fact. They said they are saving it for next year. I want to declare it anyway as it is applicable in my records now not next F ing year.
