AMEX after 90 days to NCO, after 120 with NCI. Haven't seen that many people talk about NCI recently, any experiences out there? Is there a reason they sent it on? Or is it just a tactic to confuse?
I have read the forum, and it seemed that most all were with NCO till charge-off.

You have not clearly stated you question. Are you saying that initially your account was with AMEX and then they sold it NCO!! Anyways NCO is a collection agency.Your creditors can sell you account as many times they want. There is no limit of age.If they are not getting back their amount for a long time ,then they sell the accounts to the 3rd party collections agency.

The good news is that they may be more willing to settle.

I implied that this didn't charge-off. It's with amex, but at 90 they gave to nco, at 120 they gave to nci. My question has anyone else gone through this, as it seems out of the norm with them.

My American Express is well past 180 days. Since then it has gone to 3 different agencies. Right now it is with NCO. It is my understanding that American Express does not sell their debt but sends to outside agencies to collect on their behalf.

Correct. Amex does not sell the debt and even following a settlement it will still carry the balance on its books. They will report it as settled, however. Not sure about 1099, since they seem to carry it on the books forever.
