I received a summons thanks to Sif...
I contacted another company to help and they came back with an offer from Amex attorneys (Mass based) for full amount with lump sum down, 5 payments and then negotiate balance in 5 months.
No different then a judgment i would think as they are including an agreement for judgement.

Is this a bad deal??? Do i go to court or get an attorney?

That sucks. I hope sifxpert " aka James "catches crabs for what he has done.I would continue to negotiate and explain to the law firm that you want to resolve this without court. If they refuse to work with you so be it. Just be sure you show up to court.

I would be sure you show you paper work that you were in a debt relief program because you wanted to resolve you debts but you were scammed. Also have a budget showing the judge your hardship and inability to pay.

Yeah that attorney is giving you nothing it sounds like. Might as well go to court and get lower payments set by the judge probably.

If you can get an attorney that is always the best option if it is a good attorney. They will sing a different tune really fast. I got one and all the creditors have to deal with him and they don't want to.

I just have to believe that i am getting railroaded. How do i go about finding an attorney? I have about ten days to answer the summons. Also in Mass is it business days or do weekends and holidays count??
