Credit Card Debt

I have 3 credit card companies that I owe. I had informed each of them that I am not financially able to pay my bill at this time. I asked that they close my credit card accounts. They closed my account, but they keep adding charges each month. My orginial bill goes up each month. I was attempting to work out a plan to pay each of them from the amount I owed when I closed the accounts. How can I stop the harassing phone calls to me at home and at work. Also, they call my family repeatedly asking the same questions. I will pay the debt, but I cannot pay the total I owe at once, because it is too much. I owe all together for the 3 cards $850.00. But that amount increases every month. What can I do to stop the harassing phone calls?

Send them a cease and desist letter. Tell them that you fully intend to pay your debt, but all communication needs to be via email or postal mail, they can't contact you by telephone anywhere.

This brings back such bad memories for me. Memories that I may have to face again, as financial woes haunt me again. Calling family members is a bread and butter tactic for these debt hounds.

Welcome to the Community Very Happy Have you tried to talk with them about dropping or lowering your interest so you can pay these off? Many companies have a hardship program. I did this with several ones of mine- told them I wanted to get these paid off, but couldn't because of the interest, and they did.

Also, if it is possible, take the one with the lowest balance and pay extra on that one, as much as you can. When it is paid off, take that payment, add it to the next lowest ones' payment and so on.This helped me get out of debt with the cc. It was alot of sacrifice and 2 jobs, but it worked.

Also, when you speak with them, ask them if they can drop the fees from when you closed the account to help you gt it paid off sooner-one of mine did.

Good luck-keep us posted..karen
