Has anyone else used Care One for Debt Settlement ? I have signed with them first payment comes out August 1st. Was wondering if you have had any problems and how it is working out for you. I am really hopeful that this is going to work.
Maybe you should have done this research before signing up with them? Do a search of this forum and the web.
How to Deal with Illegal Loans..OhioGal's Primer http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com...allenders.html PDL's are ILLEGAL in the following states...
AR, AZ, CT, GA, ME, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, PA, VT AND DC
OH AND NH have very restrictive low cost interest rate laws.
I did research them and the seem ok. The only thing that I am finding thru the forum is some people are saying that they are getting sued by the cc companies. I discussed this with Care One and they said that this does not happen to often Discover Card is usually the hardest to get to settle and American Express just doesnt. They did tell me if I received a letter about a judgement to forward it to them and they would handle it. I am putting all of my faith in them and hope what they are telling me is the truth. I would really like to hear from someone that has has used them to find out how their process went and what I have to look forward to. By the way this forum is a god send. It has helped so much Thank you

If it is simply a letter telling you you "could be sued", I would say yes. If you receive a summons, do NOT depend on them. They are not going to defend you in court nor will they walk you thru the process. So be careful...too many people get sued while in these programs and they ASSUME that the program will handle it for them.

I did do research on the company and they were very helpful in answering all of my question before I decided to go with them. I was just wanting to get some input from other people who have used them and how their expierence was. Would like to know how long it took to start paying off cards, and if they are really as supportive thru the process as they say they are. This forum has been very helpful
I have been with Care One for approximately 2 years now. In that time, all of my creditors accepted the repayment plans (which were actually for the same amount I was already paying, but lowered or ended interest rates), I've paid off a few cards, and have seen my balances drop dramatically. Supposedly, I will be done in another 14 months.
I can't say that my credit score has been impacted negatively at all. I keep a fairly close eye on it and it seems to hover in the same "good" range.
The only negative is the monthly fee they charge, but I guess I can't expect something for nothing.
My advice: If you're really in a bind and need to do something to help yourself out that won't involve collection calls (I wasn't actually behind to begin with though), stick with the plan. And don't expect it to fix everything in a few short months. It's a long process, but you should see decent results. Good Luck!
The Debt Settlement plan can be a bumpy road, especially in the beginning. Check out this post in the CareOne Community forum to see how others are feeling about their plan:

By signing up for counseling session, your provided details (Name, Email ID and Phone No.) will be forwarded to the company advertising on the DebtCC. However, you have no obligation to use their services.
Some creditors and collection agencies refuse to lower the pay off amount, interest rate, and fees owed by the consumer.
Creditors/collection agencies can make collection calls and file lawsuits against the consumers represented by the debt relief companies.
Debt relief services may have a negative impact on the consumer's creditworthiness and his overall debt amount may increase due to the accumulation of extra fees.
The amount which the consumer saves with the use of debt relief services can be regarded as taxable income.

I thought about using this service. I'm just not sure where to find it on this Debt Consolidation Care forum?
