Hello,
I was recently in touch with a consolidation company that was willing to do something along the lines of what I was looking for. I am able to make my payments, but the interest is crazy and I am looking for 1 payment/month instead of 7. They told me they could negotiate rates down to 8-10%, and they would pay each of my lenders each month.
I have since learned via this site that the company is not very reputable and I will not deal with them. Has anyone here used the type of "consolidation" I described or can anyone give me the name of a company that may be able to help me that had a decent BBB rating?

debt consolidation program works exactly the way you have explained here. I am also enrolled in a plan set by my local company. They have got all the bills combined under one monthly payment. You pay to the consolidation company each month and they distribute the funds to different creditors included in the plan. My dmp company is prompt enough to send the itemized statements showing how the money was applied towards different accounts. Since you will trust a company with your money, be sure to check their business with your local law enforcement agencies. The attorney general and the BBB will have updated reports on the company where they have their operations.
