I have some unsecured credit cards. I have heard that some will settle, and others won't. Which won't?

HSBC / Orchard Bank will ignore any letters sent to them and turn an account over to an attorney that will sue. AMEX refused to work with me in the past but I am not sure how they are today!

Welcome to the Community I think, too, that is depends on other circumstances as well. Alot depends on how old the debt is. None of them have to settle with you, but alot of them do, to get some money back.
I have had several let me go into the hardship program with myself and my son, to get the debt paid off. They dropped the interest if I would commit to a payment plan for a year- but be sure that you can keep up with this, or they will drop you.
Good Luck-Let us know what happens..KAren

Amex is actually really good right now.
Discover can be difficult to settle.
Remember, just because you got sued does not mean you can not settle. Most lawsuits in America get settled out of court.
