Skelly,
I would recommend calling for a free consultation-the counselors here are great and will point you in the right direction.
Once you do find a company, before you join, research with BBB-Google-ripoffreport. Also we have a search option here that will help you. Just type in the company name and see what others had to say.
You didn't say what kind of debt you are in. Credit card, Pay-Day Loans, medical, or is it something else. Also what state are you in? A lot of board members here can steer you in the right direction to handle this.
Have you tried to talk to your creditors & negotiate yourself?

Great advice lawn. Before you go with a company, determine if it is something you might be able to do yourself. There are alot of great people here that may be able to help you through this process for free. If you don't feel you can do it yourself, follow lawn's advice and research before you decide. There are some good companies but unfortunatley, there are those that are out to get your money.

One more thing - I went with one of those bad companies that was only interested in my money and did not do anything for me. I would stay away from them - PM me if you would like to know which one I am talking about.
