Welcome to the Community Please have a look at this link at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/ it describes in detail what debt consolidation is, and also has other links, like 12 Ways to Solve your debt problems.

Can you tell us what types of debt you have-credit cards, payday loans?

If you can also tell us the state you reside, if any of these are deliquent, and the companies you are dealing with, we will give you more info. You aren't alone, and we are here to help..KAren
