I stupidly gave my daughter a credit card to pay off her bills before she got married a year ago. It is now up to $17000, and as the card holder, I am responsible. She is talking to the Consumer Law Center of the West which is affiliated with the Consumer Law Center in Fl. I see by postings that this is not a good idea, but where do we go? They have other debt they want to take care of.

Padgets, I would apply for a free consultation or have your daughter apply for the free consultation or contact a counselor here. They can help you sort through your options.
What other debt do they have-credit, pay day loans, bank loans...? The more info you can tell us about the other debts we can help you with that as well!
