I am stupid

I stupidly bought things that I thought I needed. These were things I surely did not need, and definitely couldn't afford. Why not just go and charge it? That's a great thought I wont have to pay it all back. Before I knew it the cards were all maxed out and I was in trouble, BIG TIME!!!! Now I am looking to try to get help in bailing myself out, so that the phone will stop ringing and I can finally have room to breath.

Welcome to the Community Very Happy You aren't stupid! We all have gotten into one mess or another with our debts. The point is, we are here trying to become responsible, and take care of things.

If you can give us a little more info- no personal info- such as what companies you are dealing with, how much you owe, how old the debts are, etc., we can direct you where you need to begin.

Good Luck-keep us posted..Karen

Hi Shanee. Don't be so hard on yourself. You are NOT stupid. This kind of thing happens to lots of people (me included). It's so easy to get caught up on the whole credit card trap. Just take your time and breath. Also, remember that the credit cards are not an emergency. Make sure you keep your rent and utilities paid first.

Credit companies will keep calling you if you are not picking their phone calls. My suggestion is to stand upfront and let them know about your situation. Put a payment proposal that you will be able to afford in the coming months. Since they want their money back, they will possible work with your arrangements. Make sure that you have put the proposal in writing and have a proof of your actions. Hopefully, this will help you in becoming debt free.

I agree you need to answer the phone and work out payment arrangements with them. It would be easier to work with them know then later.

Hey shaneegorman,

You are in the same hole as I am. I have spent thousands on buying things that I dont really need. Yes, I was stupid back then. But now I have become smarter and this is why I am here today. I am glad that you realized that you need help and joined us. You did the first step, now take the second one: put a list of your creditors, what you owe them, what are your monthly payments, APRs. Sign-up for the free consultation also.

Dont worry you will be better soon Smile Keep us posted!
